Braedyn Bruner has been chosen as Soap Opera News’ performer of the week for her role as Emma on General Hospital.

Emma Drake, daughter of thee Patrick Drake and Robin Scorpio-Drake, beloved legacy character, miracle child, born on screen November 4, 2008 is an apple that does not fall far from the tree.

Emma has inserted herself in the ongoing Quartermaine family feud. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Tracy, Emma stood defiant and resolute to help protect the Quartermaine crypt from demolition at all costs even as the powers that be descended on them. As Grandma spy (Anna) arrested her granddaughter, Emma, now also a champion of the people, held Anna’s gaze as if to say, “Bring it on!”

When the two were alone, Anna went in on Emma, giving her the speech about following the law, not doing anything to put your future at risk and telling Emma, yes, you do what you can to help people but you can’t save everyone. At some point in life, we all get that speech.

Emma, not shrinking an inch, impassionedly told her grandma that she believed in fighting the good fight against inequality, injustice, and corruption. It is who she is. She also gave Anna a side eye and said, ‘I am who you used to be. What happened, grandma?’ Ouch!

Braedyn Bruner Is the Performer of the Week:

Emma was a delight standing in, up, and for herself. In a clever tie-in to history (nice touch, GH), Emma went on to tell Anna why her stance was also a personal crusade. She spoke about Edward Quartermaine, who was willing to sacrifice his life so Emma could receive the lifesaving serum, and how it was his son, Alan, who helped save Robin’s life when she was initially diagnosed with HIV. Back then, such a diagnosis was considered a fatal one. The father and son saved mother and daughter, respectively. It was then that Anna understood.

Braedyn Bruner’s Emma was defiant, courageous, fervent, bold, tough, reflective, earnest, and downright feisty in the best of ways. Bruner had us cheering, ready to join the fight and get into some “good trouble” for the cause!

Emma was most notably portrayed by actress and fan favorite Brooklyn Rae Silzer prior to Bruner being cast in the role in late 2024. It hasn’t taken Bruner long to put her stamp on Emma and secure her own footing in Port Charles. And after March 31, 2025…she is Emma Drake!

Without a doubt, Braedyn Bruner is Soap Opera News’ performer of the week! Congratulations. (Photo: ABC)
