Genoa City’s who’s who turned out for Jabot’s Christmas party. It was a night to remember. Charlie’s heart was crushed when Shauna decided a long distance relationship wasn’t for her (she didn’t last long). Charlie saw posted pics of her and her new boo and nursed his first real broken heart with alcohol. Reed tried to be a good friend and to take Charlie out to take his mind off the pics. Reed decided it was better for him to drive on a suspended license than Charlie who had had a couple. (spoiler alert Reed neither was a good option. Maybe a soap Uber?) Teenagers. Nikki who partook in her own personal celebration with a flask stumbled out the party and was struck by a car driven by Reed. On a side note; there were some funny Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer references online. But let’s give Y&R some props, a grandson running over his grandma who killed his daddy is pretty soapy.

Word spread of the accident and Nikki’s family and loved ones rushed to the hospital. The Murder Club wondered if Nikki’s accident was tied to the person who knows what happened with JT. Victor’s continued absence caused even more concern that he could be in serious trouble. Fen signed on with Devon’s music company. We get the feeling Fen and Ana are going to make some beautiful music together (in and out the studio).

The week concluded with Dr. Nate telling the Newman family to prepare for the worst. And with some Love in the Afternoon with Rey/Mia and Arturo/Abby and Jack/Kerry had a pre-Bora Bora romp and hit the sheets for the first time. Kyle and Lola shared a romantic evening but Lola kept her chastity belt on (for now).

At General Hospital Liz had a stressful parenting week (us parents know how those can be). Charlotte apologized to Aiden but also told Liz that her and the other kids think Aiden is “weird”. Cam was arrested for “almost” buying weed. Just like Reed in Genoa City, Cam had good intentions, by wanting to give Oscar weed brownies (the weed for his condition and the brownies to help him eat). But Cam um…..not very smart. Teenagers.

Wiley had his naming ceremony. We found out that Willow was Wiley #1’s mom. The Turning Woods Facility triangle kicked it up a notch. Mike kissed Yvonne under the mistletoe and tried to take her out on a jazzy night on the town. Margaux saved the day when she saw them and alerted Sonny. And later convinced Yvonne’s husband not to press charges against Mike. Carly who has seen this movie one too many times told Jason if Sonny dips out on her this time she’s out for real (Well, we who have also seen this movie many many times, knows that won’t last long but that’s what the script said).

Peter recanted his statement that Dr. O kidnapped him after Maxie lamented about Dr. O’s plight and what Nathan would have wanted. Dr. O is free, watch out Port Charles. The week ended with a warm touching Christmas centric episode.

On Bold, Hope and Steffy continued their Texas standoff, L.A. style over Taylor’s level of involvement with the family, especially in Kelly’s life. Both Steffy and Hope took hard lines. Hope stated that if Taylor is involved in their lives then there will be no big happy blended family. Steffy countered with oh Kelly will have a Phoebe in her life and if it’s not with your baby, Hope then I’ll  adopt. Liam should have had a big crook in his neck from snapping it back and forth from Hope and Steffy. And the look on his face when Hope asked him if he had any regrets about being with her and that maybe his defense of Taylor was because he really wanted to be with Steffy, was priceless. That was a really good episode.

Things got so heated in L.A. even newcomer Dr. Reese wanted a piece of the action and threw his hat in the ring with Taylor and Brooke. He gave a shocked Brooke more than an earful about what he thought about Brooke “attacking” Taylor. Dr. Reese is laying it on Taylor quick and thick much to the chagrin of daughter Zoe.

Maya is back. Yea!! Without Rick. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. Maya told Brooke and Momma and Papa Avant that her marriage to Rick was over. We don’t know yet what happened. But we do know whatever did happen, happened off screen. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.

In Salem, Julie saw Charlotte’s paternity results and slapped the “mendacious little bitch”, Gabi. The two battled over the written paternity results which ended in Julie falling down the stairs and in the hospital. Abby had a week. She revealed to Kayla she was faking being Gab-Y to trap Gabi and outmaneuver Stefan. Abby also admitted to faking to Gabi as they went toe to toe again. And she served Stefan with divorce papers. Gabi lied and lied and lied to anyone who would listen about how Julie fell (except Kate). She even had a pillow ready to finish Julie off. But thank the soap gawds Gabi had a moment of self-actualization. And realized that was not who she was or the person Ari deserved.

Victor fired Chad for not telling Sonny/him that he knew Kate was behind Leo continuing the sexual harassment suit. A “drunk’ Will punched a smug newlywed Leo.  A year after JJ wanted to commit suicide he saved the life of a suicidal Haley in her Salem debut. Ciara and Claire put aside their differences and had a tender moment of prayer at Julie’s bedside.

The custody battle arc provided us with our Honorable Mention Performer of the Week, Linsey Godfrey as Sarah Horton! Sarah started the week in a tear because her momma Maggie gave Holly to Chloe and didn’t tell Eric. Then sassy spunky Sarah read Chloe like a best seller of all her past sins. And she wasn’t finished. Sarah left some more for Maggie back at the Kiriakis mansion. But our favorite moment was Sarah’s moment of revelation (it was written all over her face) that her intense defense of Eric could be rooted in her own pain over Rex’s betrayal. And how her life, like Eric’s, was planned out with the person she loved and in an instant everything changed. Just allow me another minute to sing Linsey’s praises. More than anything else what has been so impressive is that the audience has no recent history with Sarah. So every emotion, feeling and conveyance has to emote from Linsey or it would just fall flat. And it’s done everything but. Linsey has had to sell her backstory single highhandedly in order for us to buy the storyline and her response. And we are buying it hook, line and sinker. Bravo Linsey. Really Bravo!

Ninety-three years young. Bill Hayes at nine-three years young is our Performer of the Week! When Doug first saw Julie earlier in the week lying in that hospital bed he took her hand, told her there were still many things left for them to do and that she had better not even think of leaving him. But then Friday, Bill broke me. Doug told Julie, “You have to come back to me. You are my life, my heart. Please come back.” Julie opened her eyes. We don’t know how there could have been a dry eye on set. Bill Hayes God Bless him reminded us all of the beauty of life at any age. Life is truly a gift. Bill brought me to tears.  Doug’s love for Julie and Bill’s love for Susan is so inspiring, beautiful and timeless. And especially during the Holiday Season; I’m grateful for this reminder. Thank you Bill for reminding us of what’s really important, Life, Love and our loved ones! Thank you!

Wishing everyone the Happiest of Holidays!

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa!
