Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) finally made it back home to Port
Charles this past week and fans were excited to see Drew interact with his
family and friends again. First up was a
reunion with Sam and his daughter, Scout.
Cameron Mathison and Kelly Monaco (Samantha McCall) definitely have
chemistry and fans are excited about a possible Dream (Drew + Sam)
reunion. When Scout doesn’t recognize Drew
and turns to Dante, Cameron perfectly expressed the pain yet, understanding Drew
felt at Scout’s reaction.

Drew later showed up at the Quartermaine mansion (with pizza
in hand for Thanksgiving) and had a bittersweet reunion with his mother, Monica
(Leslie Charleson).  Monica was pleasantly
surprised to see Drew and was hoping to spend Thanksgiving with both of her
sons.  Drew had to be the one to break
the news to her, and the rest of the family, that Jason passed away while
saving his life.  Cameron displayed the
guilt Drew felt spot-on: his pained face, clenched jaw, sunken and teary eyes,
etc.  Even when Monica hugged Drew after
telling him one (Jason) doesn’t count more than the other (Drew), Cameron showed
just how completely gutted Drew feels about the whole situation through his
eyes and body language.  That continued
with his conversation with Ned; when Drew realizes he won’t have any more opportunities
to bond with Jason.  The Quartermaine’s make
a toast to Drew returning home and Drew redirects the toast be for Jason; Cameron
yet again showed the pain and guilt Drew feels through his eyes and tone of voice.

Drew reunites with Carly and Sonny, and Drew meets their
daughter, Donna for the first time.
Whenever Cameron smiles, it lights up the whole room.  Drew, Carly, and Sonny have touching scenes discussing
Jason and also their love for their children and how their children motivate
them.

Also in this past week’s shows, Drew reunited with
Maxie.  Fans couldn’t help but speculate
if this was a possible chemistry test between Cameron Mathison and Kirsten
Storms (Maxie).  Did they pass the chemistry
test?  A number of fans seem to think
so!  Drew lit up when he saw Maxie for
the first time (as did she) and Cameron displayed Drew’s charm and charisma
with her extremely well.  Drew may feel
like he has to protect Maxie since he knows Peter wanted to use him to hurt
Maxie to get to baby Louise.  During Maxie
and Drew’s conversation, she almost let it slip that she knows where Louise is
and Drew definitely catches on.  Will
Drew be able to put the pieces together?

Being a recast is never easy, but Cameron Mathison is making
it seem effortless. He has been on the
show on and off since the summer and he finally got to interact with a good
portion of the cast just in this past week and knocked all of his scenes out of
the park!  Fans are looking forward to
seeing more of Drew, where his story will go next, and how Cameron will take
fans along Drew’s journey!
