Performer of the Week:
General Hospital’s Laura Wright captured the breath of millions across the nation this week. Carly Spencer was the first character in Port Charles to learn of her mother, Bobbie Spencer’s, passing away in Amsterdam and from that moment on GH fans have been waiting with baited breath for the next scene.
Laura Wright has been well prepared to play these moments on screen as Bobbie’s portrayer Jackie Zeman passed away in May of 2023.
At the time of Zeman’s passing, Wright wrote on Instagram, “I’m so grateful to have shared so many years with this beautiful woman.” Those many years were expressed in every pained expression and fallen tear from Carly.
The powerhouse performance which earned this week’s emphasis has been carried throughout the week. Sharing scenes with daytime veterans like Cameron Mathison and Cynthia Watros has only increased the heat of Wright’s performance of a woman balancing grief with the encroaching turmoil of a family torn apart by secrets.
With only five days into 2024, the bar has been set high for the year!

Days of Our Lives made a great casting choice when they chose Jamie Martin Mann to play Tate. This week, Mann gave an outstanding performance and impressed viewers with his acting skills. He played the lead role in the soap opera’s main story for the week, portraying the wide range of emotions that Tate felt, from being worried about Holly to his desperate need to save his dad from taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit. Arianne Zucker, who plays Nicole, also gave a fantastic performance. Her character went through a lot of emotional turmoil last year, and in the first week of episodes of 2024, Zucker portrayed Nicole’s sadness by Holly’s bedside so naturally that it had viewers in tears.
Overall, the performances of Jamie Martin Mann and Arianne Zucker in this week’s episodes of Days of Our Lives were truly outstanding. They brought depth, emotion, and authenticity to their characters, and their talent elevated the storytelling to new heights. It’s no wonder that they have captivated audiences and garnered so much praise. Kudos to both actors for their stellar work, and here’s to many more unforgettable moments on Days of Our Lives.
