While fans have been divided on the Dominic storyline on “The
Young & The Restless”, there’s no denying that Melissa Ordway (Abby) has
been phenomenal at displaying Abby’s struggles to keep her family
together.  In this past week’s episodes,
Devon had stated that he wanted to sue for shared legal custody of Dominic which
infuriated Abby.  Abby took his legal
stance as an attack on her and Chance as parents and felt threatened that Devon
wanted to be Dominic’s sole father.
Ordway excelled at selling Abby as an overprotective mother who is
desperate to keep her husband and son safe while also being in denial as to
just how much Chance has been struggling since returning home.  When Abby and Chance have a moment to
themselves, Chance is vulnerable with Abby and describes how bad he has been
coping and fears he won’t be there for their son and for her in the way he
should be.  He tries to convince Abby
that it is in their son’s best interest to have Devon involved.  Ordway’s softened expressions and body
language as Abby’s heart is breaking seeing her husband in so much pain tugged
at fan’s heart strings.  Even further
when Abby and Chance meet with Devon to let him know that they agree to his
terms; fans can tell that this decision is not what Abby truly wants.  Abby didn’t even have to speak, it was all
expressed through Ordway’s brilliant acting choices of facial expressions and
body language.  Now that Abby has a
better sense as to just how much Chance is struggling, fans are curious to see
how Abby will continue to be there for her family and know that Ordway will
continue to deliver.
