Beyond the Gates has been telling one of its most powerful and emotional storylines since its debut: Anita Dupree’s (Tamara Tunie) breast cancer journey. This week, the storyline—which saw Dani and Nicole undergoing tests to find out if they carry the BRCA gene—gave Karla Mosley and Daphnee Duplaix the material that earned them Soap Opera News’ Performers of the Week for January 12–16, 2026.
Dani’s Harsh Reality
This week, Dani was torn as she learned that she carries the BRCA gene. This meant her daughters would have to get tested as well. Nicole, on the other hand, did not have the BRCA gene, which means she and her children are in the clear. But while she should be happy and celebrating, her joy was tempered because it felt like a blow that her sister was going through this.
Nicole: A Sister’s Rock
Nicole, or “Sissi,” as Dani often calls her, immediately rushed to her sister’s side. Duplaix was absolutely in her element, providing that unwavering support and shoulder to lean on. From quiet, tender moments of comfort to the raw scenes where Nicole drank to dull her own pain, Duplaix carried every scene with the depth that only she could. She made it feel like every emotion: love, worry, sadness, was right there on screen. That’s talent. That’s powerful.
Mosley at the Top of Her Game
Meanwhile, Mosley once again showed that if it’s emotional material, she can handle it. If it’s comedic, she can handle that too. Whatever the scene, she’s got it locked. We felt every single emotional beat come through our screens as Dani faced the harsh reality. She leaned on Nicole, on Andre, on her mom, and even on her ex, Bill.
Simply put, Karla Mosley and Daphnee Duplaix are both powerhouse actresses, and what they delivered on daytime TV this week was one of their best performances. We cannot imagine anyone else playing these roles. Well done! Congratulations on being named Performers of the Week.
