In January, Raven Bowens was let go from her role as Chanel Dupree DiMera on Days of Our Lives. Now, for the first time, the actress is opening up about what happened, revealing how she learned she was being let go after five years. And while the news came as a shock, Bowens says she’s not giving up on acting. In fact, she’s already looking toward her next chapter!

Raven Bowens Reveals How She Found Out She Was Fired From Days of Our Lives

It wasn’t exactly the New Year’s surprise Raven Bowens was hoping for!

The actress recently opened up in a new TikTok video about her departure from Days of Our Lives and the phone call that changed the start of her 2026.

Bowens has been sharing her goal of becoming a millionaire and documenting her wealth-building journey. But before she could get started on her New Year’s resolutions, she received some unexpected news.

“On January 2nd, before I even got to start on any of my New Year’s resolutions, I got fired,” she revealed.

She continued, “For the backstory, I spent five years working on Days of Our Lives. I played Chanel Dupree. I love my character,” she said.

Bowens explained that she loves the show and every single person that she worked with.

She revealed, “I had just signed a new contract that was for nine months.“

However, as she explained, soap contracts can be structured so that they are reviewed every three months, with the possibility of not being renewed or picked up.

Bowens Was Completely Blindsided by the Call

Bowens recalled that it was around eight in the morning when the call came through.

She was still in bed, with her sister visiting and lying beside her. Seeing her producer calling on January 2 immediately made her suspicious.

After all, the show wasn’t due to return to work for another week.

She explained that she wondered why her producer would be calling so early and on her day off.

Her first thought?

She was getting fired.

Unfortunately, her fears were confirmed when she answered.

According to Bowens, she was told that the show didn’t have a storyline for her at the moment and that Chanel would be written out at the end of her current storyline

About What Comes Next

Bowens added, “Now, well, that isn’t fun. That is the business of show business, especially on soap operas. So it is what it is. That’s the contract I signed. I had to accept it, but it was a really hard reality.”

Bowens noted, “I was going to work every day for five years. I got comfortable. That was like my second home. All of this just made me realize that it was time to step into my next chapter. And my next chapter is not my acting career ending because I’m an actress. “

In fact she said, “I will always be an actress. I have sacrificed so much for this life and for this career. And I love it. I will never give it up and I will never quit. But it did make me realize how important it is to have other streams of income. So that is how my 2026 started. But I am determined for my 2027 to go in a completely different direction. So follow along on my wealth building journey and let’s figure out how to make a million.”

On the show, Chanel recently became cancer-free after undergoing chemotherapy and treatment following the discovery of a lump in her breast.

Chanel also gave birth to her second child—and her first biological child—with Johnny, who has been facing his own troubles and drama at DiMera Enterprises and with his father.

Now, the couple will look at their lives, decide what they want for themselves and their children, and announce their decision to move to Italy.
