Ray Wise is celebrating his 75th birthday today. Raymond Herbert Wise was born on August 20, 1947, in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1965 and also attended Kent State University in Ohio. He is of Romanian desecent on his maternal side and grew up in a religious family. 


Veteran television and film actor Ray Wise started his
acting career in the 1969 film Dare Devil. In 1970 he landed his first
major television role on the soap opera Love of Life where he played
attorney Jamie Rollins for seven years. Quickly closing in on two hundred and
fifty acting credits (and counting) Wise’s extensive resume comprises of varied
and diverse television series and mini-series, films, and short films.

 

Among Wise’s many notable roles on the small screen are
Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks, Vice President Hal Gardner in 24,
The Devil in Reaper, Robin Sr. in How I Met Your Mother, Ed
Baxter in Madmen, and Marvin in Fresh Off the Boat. On the big
screen, he has appeared in movies like Robocop, X-Men: First Class,
and Jurassic City.

 

Wise’s full circle moment came when he returned to soap
land and was cast in The Young and the Restless. He played villain Ian Ward from 2014-16. Rise also had a small
stint on Days of Our Lives in the early 80s. 

 

Audiences will see Wise in the upcoming
movies, The Blue Rose, Poolman, and Nightmare City.
