Thorsten Kaye and Eric Braeden have each dedicated decades of their careers to the soap opera world. Beyond their long-standing TV roles, the two also share something else in common: they’re both German. Surprisingly, despite working just across the hall from each other on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, they’ve never actually shared a scene.
Braeden has famously portrayed Victor Newman on Y&R since 1980, becoming one of daytime TV’s most iconic characters. Meanwhile, Kaye has played Ridge Forrester on B&B since 2013, though his soap opera career began back in 1995 with his role as Patrick Thornhart on One Life to Live. Fans may also remember him for his runs as Zach Slater on All My Children or Ian Thornhart on Port Charles.
Two Legends, One Photo
Fans were thrilled when Braeden recently shared a rare photo of the two actors together on Instagram with the caption: “Two Germans discussing serious business!” The image features Kaye holding a folded script in his hand, while Braeden had his tucked under his arm.
The post quickly gained traction, with fans and fellow soap stars jumping into the comments to share their excitement and admiration for the two daytime veterans.
Both shows are thriving. CBS has renewed The Young and the Restless through the 2027–2028 television season, and The Bold and the Beautiful will continue through that same period. Additionally, B&B is set to move out of its longtime home at Television City and will begin filming at Sunset Las Palmas Studios starting August 19.
It’s also worth mentioning that Y&R and B&B have done multiple crossover episodes since the 1990s. So, wouldn’t it be amazing to finally see a crossover scene where Victor Newman and Ridge Forrester meet on screen?
