Shi Ne Nielson has been recurring on Days of Our Lives as Amy Choi since December 2024, but this was truly the week viewers got to see her fully explore those acting chops. And she did not disappoint. Not even a little.
Because of that, Nielson has been named Soap Opera News Performer of the Week for May 11-15.
Amy Choi’s Heartbreaking Reality
In the story, Amy Choi has been facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Ever since finding the suicide note left behind by her daughter, Sophia Choi, her world has been completely turned upside down.
Mrs. Choi knows something terrible happened to Sophia, but she has no idea just how tragic the truth really is. Sophia was bashed with a rock by Kristen before being pushed into a river by Kristen’s goons.
The Salem PD has launched a search, but so far, they have been unable to recover a body. At this point, investigators are beginning to believe it may no longer be possible that Sophia is still alive.
It is against that heartbreaking backdrop that viewers watched Nielson completely dive into a mother’s grief.
Shi Ne Nielson Delivered Every Emotion
Nielson brought everything to the screen. The heartbreak, the fear, the confusion, and the pain were written all over her face in every scene.
You could hear the devastation in her voice as Amy struggled to process the news being delivered to her. It felt raw, emotional, and painfully real because no mother ever wants to hear something like that. No parent does.
As difficult as these scenes were to watch, it was also genuinely rewarding to see Nielson finally receive material that truly highlighted her acting ability.
Whether viewers were Team Mrs. Choi or Team Holly during those tense confrontational scenes, one thing became very clear. Nielson was operating at the top of her game and delivering back-to-back standout performances as a grieving mother.
Congratulations to Shi Ne Nielson on being named Performer of the Week. You deserve it!
