He’s a fine and talented musician who just had his song “Just To Be With You” on ‘The Young and the Restless’ as performed by Cait Fairbanks [Tessa] and Tristan Lake Leabu [Reed]. Soap Opera Intel had the awesome privilege of speaking with talented singer and songwriter Jim Wolf who talked about his music career, his song being on ‘Y&R’, if he would do a cameo appearance on the soap and more. Read the full interview below!

Big congrats on your music! It was great seeing your song on the ‘The Young and the Restless’, what was that like for you?

Jim: It was an amazing feeling to have my song be part of the storyline. Tessa (Caitlain Fairbanks) performed it outside the coffee shop, and also with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) in The Underground. I was beside myself. They called it the song they wrote together.

Tell us a little bit more of the process of your song getting on such a big-name soap opera?

Jim: It’s all about representation. My agent pitched it and the producers liked it. Just got lucky this time.

Tell us about putting together the song “Just to Be With You”

Jim: “Just To Be With You” is a song that I wrote and begged my wife to sing back up on for about 3 weeks. I essentially had to get her drunk and tell her it was the best time to sing.  So glad I talked her into it.  Oddly enough her name is Tessa, and it was the ‘Save The Date’ song for our wedding. So happy how it came out, and being on ‘The Young And The Restless’ is just the icing on the cake. Couldn’t be happier!

Do you have a future with soaps? Will We see more of your music on it?

Jim: I hope so. I’ve already had few conversations about other songs and possibilities.  Hope one lands and keeps the momentum going. It’s early still but fingers crossed.

What inspired you to do music in the first place?

Jim: When I was a young boy my brother was in a band and he and his fellow bandmates wrote songs in my parents basement. They were only in high school and experts at their craft, and I was able to get a close look. It gave me inspiration to see songwriting from the inside. One of those members went on to be well known, you know him as singer/songwriter John Mayer.

Where does your inspiration come from for writing songs?

Jim: It is always different.  I’ll tell you the most interesting instance. The time I met Uma Thurman. She was so nice, and friendly.  We talked for about 15 minutes. She was so down to earth, I was impressed. I went home and couldn’t put the guitar down. I wrote the song “The Ferris Wheel”.

Have you ever thought about acting on daytime television – a possible appearance on Y&R?

Jim: I would do a cameo. If anything I would want to be performing one of my songs at the nightclub ‘The Underground’.

What’s next for you musically – a new album?

Jim: I actually just put out a new album in March, it’s called ‘Acoustic’ and it can be found on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other stores.  But the exciting thing is that I’m headed to South Korea. I had a top twenty hit there in 2014 and am still feeling the ripple effect. The song has been used in numerous popular Korean and Chinese television shows and a famous Korean couple’s private wedding video.
