There is no doubt that BET’s hit drama Sistas is one of the hottest shows of the summer! And Soap Opera News had the opportunity to talk with one of its stars, Trinity Whiteside, about what viewers can expect for the rest of the season!
The actor started his career in the entertainment industry at a later age than most after making the conscious decision to put his family first. “I didn’t want them to wonder why I had to leave for weeks at a time. I wanted them to be old enough to understand why I was leaving,” he shared.
However, his curiosity about the art of acting was always there in the back of his mind. Even as a young child, he recalled having the need to make his games of make-believe as realistic as possible. “I was always drawn to being able to make something come alive. [It’s] one of the things that I enjoy the most.”
While he has been working hard for the last several years with appearances in various films and television series, his biggest role to date is as Preston Horace on Tyler Perry’s Sistas. Fans have flocked to the star’s charisma as well as his on-screen relationship with Mignon Von’s Danni King. “If you are a fan of Sistas, [this season] is everything that you’ve come to know and love magnified. And if you haven’t watched the show yet, this season gives you every reason as to why you should.”

As for what fans can look forward to for Preston throughout the rest of the series’ third season? “I think [Preston] already knew who he was but in regards to his relationship with Danni and this new experience, I believe he is finding his footing,” Trinity teased. “He’s starting to gather some understanding about little nuances that he didn’t quite understand before. And it’s for the betterment of not only his relationship with Danni but himself as a person.”
The theme of continued growth carries over to his real-life as well. As he pursues further success in his career, he has resolved to ensure that his blessings are not simply his own. Having a role on a hit television series unmistakably provides financial security, which is something he has always strived for as a husband and father. But he hopes to use his new platform as a way to help everyone around him.
Trinity Whiteside is undeniably a star on the rise and when we asked him what goals he had for the future he gave us a wonderfully thought-provoking response. “I remember one of my first encounters with Tyler Perry and he asked me ‘What is the dream?’ I found it difficult to answer that question because I believe ultimately the dream itself is a collection of dreams. You achieve one dream and that leads you to the next. Collectively they make up the ultimate dream. And I don’t know what the dream will be until I’m done.”
