We had the pleasure of reading Tina Sloan’s debut novel Chasing Cleopatra: A Novel of Love, Betrayal and Suspense and I just have to say WOW!
Tina is widely known for her work on soap operas Guiding Light (Lillian Raines) and Another World (Olivia Delaney). She has also worked on the web series Venice the Series and Beacon Hill. As a forever lover of Guiding Light and an avid reader of books filled with romance and drama, I was thrilled to start Chasing Cleopatra.
The story follows the lives of Cleo Gallier and the members of the Regan family as their lives intersect in surprising and dangerous ways during the week of Christmas in Honolulu. Cleo, a captivating local TV host, and Krav Maga expert in her mid-40s enters into an unexpected affair with the younger Jake Regan, who is on vacation in Hawaii with his family…and his girlfriend of two years. Tensions are high when Cleo’s life gets upended as she gets dragged into the middle of not only the Regan families’ secrets but a classified CIA mission that could end in tragedy for the island as well.
Throughout the novel, Sloan does a wonderful job showing each compelling character’s thoughts and personality that makes you feel like you truly know them. I was enthralled as the story progressed and couldn’t put the book down until I followed every twist and turn to see just how it all would end! The last several chapters had me clutching my invisible pearls, and the ending left me waiting for what comes next! To put it bluntly, I ABSOLUTELY loved this novel and I’m sure you will too!
