Full transparency! We’ve been a fan of Kelly Kruger since her days as Mackenzie Browning on The Young and the Restless. So, we clearly had high hopes when we heard that Kruger was coming back to soaps… and this time… to General Hospital as Serena Baldwin!
However, this is a soap, and coming in as a recast—especially in a legacy character role—can never be easy. Yet Kruger pulled it off like the champ she is!

Serena’s Return Came With Strings Attached
Kruger made her debut on the Thursday, July 30 episode of GH, where returnee Serena met with her mother, Lucy Coe, at the Metro Court Gardens.
Felicia was present and all happy to see how Serena is all grown up. She left to give the mother-daughter pair a moment to catch up, and before long we were filled in on Serena’s life outside of Port Charles—including the fact that she lost her entire trust fund after trusting the wrong people and spending years exhausting her inheritance on various environmental causes!
She even offered an update on the MIA Scott Baldwin, who she said is living his best life in Key West, kayaking and all of that.
Things quickly shifted as Serena realized that her mom had an ulterior motive for summoning her back home. Lucy immediately enlisted Serena to help her take back control of Deception.
From Poolside Seduction to Brennan’s Lap
Fast forward to today’s episode (the next time we saw Serena), she met up with Lucy at another fictional hospital spot, Bobbie’s, as the two discussed their scheme.
Lucy announced that she wanted her daughter to pull out her most seductive swimsuit to go seduce the shares right out of Michael at the Metro Court pool. Serena was well on board. After all, her closet was the right fit for the mission!
So she left, got dressed, and showed up at the Metro Court pool with her sights set on a hot, wet, dripping Michael Corinthos. Only as she was making her way over to kick off the plan, she slipped and fell into the wrong man’s lap! Hello, Jack Brennan!
Our Final Verdict & Soap Grade
So far, we must admit that we are loving this new Serena! She’s got the looks, the attitude, the body, and the spunk (and a schemer like Lucy Coe? That’s a plus).
It’s early in the game, but shut the front door—Kruger is bringing it, and we are loving every minute of it. So much that we have given her an A in our soap grade!
