The list of nominees for the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards to be held on June 24th was announced on May 5th. The list included some first-time nominees, see below!
Aaron D. Spears – Justin Barber, The Bold and the Beautiful
After 25 years in the daytime soap opera world and 13 years of playing Justin Barber on the CBS daytime drama, Spears has earned himself his first Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor.
Melissa Ordway – Abby Newman, The Young and the Restless
After 9 years of playing Abby Newman on the CBS daytime soap opera, Ordway has been nominated at the Daytime Emmys for the first time. She is nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series.
Kelly Thiebaud – Dr. Britt Westbourne, General Hospital
Later this year, Thiebaud will celebrate her 10th anniversary of playing Dr. Britt Westbourne on General Hospital. She however has been doing daytime soap operas for 11 years. What better way to mark her 10th year in the role of Britt than to earn herself her first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez – Spencer Cassadine, General Hospital
Chavez is a daytime soap opera newcomer. In fact, his first official acting gig is the role of Spencer on the ABC daytime drama. Surely, he wowed viewers with his outstanding performances in his first year. He is set to mark his first anniversary with the show in July. And in his first year, he earned his first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Younger Performer in a drama series.
Ptosha Storey – Naya Benedict, The Young and the Restless
Storey has done her first daytime soap opera role as Naya Benedict on Y&R beginning in 2020. She also earns her first-ever Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Guest Performer in a drama series.
Namoi Matsuda – Li Finnegan, The Bold and the Beautiful
Like several persons on this list, Matsuda is also a daytime soap opera newcomer. She began playing the role of Li on B&B in 2021. She earned her first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Guest Performer in a drama series.
Ted King – Jack Finnegan, The Bold and the Beautiful
King is no stranger to daytime soap operas. In fact, he started out all the way back in 1993 with a role on Another World. After being absent from the genre for about 9 years, King returned playing the role of Jack on B&B in 2021. With almost 30 years in the soap world, he earns his first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Guest Performer in a drama series.
Robert Gossett – Marshall Asford, General Hospital
From Passions to The Young and the Restless and now to General Hospital, Gossett earns his first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Guest Performer in a drama series. He started out in the genre 21 years ago.
Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem
The Days spin-off first aired in 2021 on Peacock. It is set to return with chapter 2 in July of this year. Of course, the show is creating buzz earning major nominations in several categories of the Daytime Emmy Awards already.
