Cosmopaulitan Entertainment’s inaugural series MISGUIDED is setting the stage to return and plans on making some changes. It is all about a “reboot and rebrand” as the character of Jeva Jones (played by Guiding Light actress Jean Carol) says in Episode 6 of the series. Of course, she’s referring to the now-defunct CBS Daytime drama, Guiding Light, but it is precisely the course of action producers of MISGUIDED plan to take going into Season 3.
MISGUIDED is a series that follows Paul, daytime TV’s biggest fan, on his quest to become its newest star. Following the cancelation of his favorite soap opera Guiding Light, Paul moves from New York City to Los Angeles in the hopes of landing a leading role on one of the remaining daytime dramas. Episodes include vlogs of Paul at the Susan Lucci star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as he seeks spiritual guidance from the ultimate daytime diva herself, “Big Sue.”
“After being disqualified from the 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards for being too much in the comedy genre, I knew I had to make some changes to the series,” says Paul Gosselin, creator and star of MISGUIDED. “I was creating a soap opera within a soap opera, but it seemed to have more humor than drama and the Awards Committee determined we were ineligible. So, I’ve upped the drama going forward and look forward to submitting once again.”
The series debuted in 2015 and after a successful Kickstarter campaign, the second season was released in 2017. Now planning for a third season, the series will be raising funds on Seed & Spark, a fundraising web platform designed to specifically help indie filmmakers. The project’s goal is to raise $8,000 over the course of 45 days. Once funds have been raised, production for the third installment of the series will begin. Cast members already signed on for the next season include Stephanie Gatschet (Ex-Tammy Winslow, Guiding Light and ex-Madison North, All My Children), Ivet Corvea and Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer, General Hospital). Last season Ms. Zeman earned a nomination for her role as ‘Mo’ at the 9th Annual Indie Series Awards. Once again, Robin Roemer will return as director of photography and will lead an entirely female crew.
