After months of keeping a relatively low profile following her exit from General Hospital, Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) is back in the spotlight. The actress surprised fans this week by revealing a whole new hair color while “soaking up the LA sunshine.”
Mattsson was mostly known for her blonde look during her run on General Hospital, which ended in mid-2025. Because of that, the new look definitely caught fans’ attention.
Followers quickly filled the comments with praise.
One fan wrote, “You’re so stunning and so pretty!! Miss you on GH.”

Sofia Mattsson’s Emotional Goodbye to General Hospital
When Mattsson exited GH in the summer of 2025, she shared an emotional message with fans on Instagram.
She wrote:
“Yes, it’s true, Sasha Gilmore has left Port Charles! (For now) General Hospital has become my second home these past years and I am so grateful for my time there.
And I feel so lucky to have experienced the love and support all the wonderful GH fans have to give. You guys truly are THE BEST!
I hope Sasha will make her way back to her friends and family, but for now it’s time for her to take a break from all the drama, and for me to continue my acting journey in some new exciting projects!”
Sofia Mattsson’s Hair Transformation Isn’t Entirely New
Fans who have followed Mattsson for a while may remember that this darker look is not completely new for her. There was a period earlier in her life when she also wore a deep brunette style.
Mattsson is a Los Angeles-based Swedish actress. Before joining GH in 2018, she appeared in the gritty tech drama StartUp and several independent films, including The Wrong Husband, I Am Not Your Daughter, Gothic Harvest, Already Married, and Becoming Bond.
Now that she has debuted the new look, many fans are simply happy to see her again.
