Let’s give, Tanner all the Emmys next year! This past month was a rollercoaster of emotions for Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) on The Bold and the Beautiful. At the beginning of the month, Finn woke up from his coma to find his birth mother, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) at his bedside. Novlan did a phenomenal job of showing Finn’s shock and fear as Finn recalled Sheila shooting him when he ran in front of his wife, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) to protect her. Novlan’s speech was slow and he stuttered which showed Finn’s mind was racing and was going faster than he could talk at the time. Fans got to hear Finn’s inner thoughts when Finn thought about how he’s going to get back to Steffy and reunite with her. The determination in Novlan’s voice made fans delighted at the thought of Sinn (Steffy and Finn) reuniting.
When Finn realizes he can’t make a breakthrough with Sheila, he tries to convince Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes) to help break him out of the room. Novlan yet again showed Finn’s determination to get back with Steffy as Finn tried to persuade Mike to betray Sheila by ratting her out to the police to save himself and Finn. For a split second, it appeared it almost worked until Sheila came back into the room.
Novlan and Brown went toe to toe in their scenes as Finn tried to flee on his own, but Sheila caught him and sedated him (once more!). Finn struggled to get up and out of bed to walk and do whatever it took to try to get back to his wife and children and that included battling it out with his crazy mother! Fans had been waiting for Finn to find out that Sheila was the one who shot him and Steffy as well as that she was the one who ran Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) off the road. Novlan did not disappoint as he delivered a powerful performance after a powerful performance. Finn made it known to Sheila that he could never forgive her for what she had done to him and his family and that she will never be in their lives. His final attempt to persuade Sheila to let him go when Finn stated, “You saved my life, so let me live it,” was a moving line and moment for both Novlan and Brown. Novlan captured Finn’s desperation and determination while Brown captured Sheila’s heartbreak.
When Finn finally got to reunite with his adoptive mother, Li, fans cried tears of joy. The reunion was beautiful and touching. Matsuda captured Li’s pleasant shock and surprise to see Finn up and about while Novlan captured Finn’s shock to see that Li was alive and survived the car accident. Finn and Li hugged and fans could sense they didn’t want to let go as they were in disbelief at everything that just unfolded.
Novlan continued to melt fans’ hearts when Finn got to reunite with his children. The slow motion as his stepdaughter ran and leaped into his arms as well as when his son was placed in his arms made fans cry yet again. This reunion was a long time coming and it was well worth the wait to see Finn’s reaction to being back with his children.
The Bold and the Beautiful has not disappointed fans with Finn & Steffy’s love story as it continues with them reuniting in Monte-Carlo. Novlan has already taken fans on Finn’s emotional journey and fans are prepared to cry tears of joy again as Finn reunites with Steffy.
Fans can’t wait to see what happens next! Bravo, Novlan!
