As they say, “When one day closes, another one opens“.
Actor Steve Burton recently announced his big return to the ABC daytime drama General Hospital as the beloved Jason Morgan, aka “Stone Cold”. In an interview with Tracy Butler on ABC7, Burton expressed his excitement about his return and how it felt like another door had opened for him. He explained that he had left the show a couple of years ago, but always believed that when one door closes, another opens. He praised executive producer Frank Valentini for doing an amazing job with the reveal of his return to the show.
“I left the show a couple years ago, and everybody knows the whole story. And it’s great Frank [Valentini] did an amazing job with this reveal of one door closing and another door opens, because that’s what I said in my Instagram video when I left. I believe that in my life that when one door closes another door is going to open and that’s how I lived my whole life. I was able to go to Days for a little while, that door closed and now this door is opened again and where I am in my life, I feel like I have another… I don’t know. It’s a feel right now, and I don’t like to go on feelings all the time… but another two to three years of acting, and I said in my video when I left, if the mandates were dropped, I would love to return to General Hospital, it’s my home and finish my career there. So, I am excited. It’s been a big part of my life. It’s enabled me to do so many things in my life and opened so many other doors for myself and my family. It’s been incredible. So to return home to see my friends and family there, it’s been amazing.”
Burton also talked about his life after leaving General Hospital, including his time on Days of Our Lives, his Daily Drama podcast, and working with Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) outside of the show.

When asked about his memories of working with actress Jacklyn Zeman, he described her as an amazing woman who was always positive and a joy to be around. Tracy also asks Burton about Jason’s current marital status with Carly, but Burton jokes that he is the wrong person to ask since Jason is buried in a cave in Greece somewhere. Despite not knowing the answer, Burton is thrilled to return to his “home” at General Hospital and reunite with his friends and family there. Burton adds that no first airdate has been revealed yet but as soon as, he will let the fans know. Check it out below.
