The internet can be a useful place. You can find real information, breaking news, and helpful updates. Other times, though, it’s packed with clickbait and flat-out false claims.
Unfortunately, General Hospital star Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) is the latest celebrity to have his name and image used to generate clicks. A recent rumor circulating on social media falsely claimed the actor would be stepping away from the ABC daytime drama due to a medical diagnosis.
That rumor is not true.
Steve Burton’s Wife Sets the Record Straight
Burton’s wife, Michelle Lundstrom, quickly shut down the claim. She took to her Instagram Stories and shared a screenshot of the post, which originated from a Facebook page pretending to offer General Hospital updates.
Lundstrom didn’t hold back, writing, “This is a fake page and fake news. It’s so sick we have to continue to post about this garbage, but my mom called me worried because her cousin called her after reading this fake clickbait garbage.”
Her response made it clear just how damaging these false stories can be, especially when they cause real fear for family members.
Burton Responds and Fans Are Reminded to Check Sources
Steve Burton himself reshared a screenshot of his wife’s response on his own Instagram Stories, reinforcing the message and making it clear the rumor had no truth behind it.
It’s an important reminder for fans. Not everything shared on social media is accurate, even when it looks official. If news doesn’t come from a reliable source or directly from the actor involved, it’s best not to believe it.
Clickbait may get attention, but misinformation can cause real harm. Checking sources matters.
