If you’re a soap fan like we are, you probably let out a little squeal when that picture of three soap legends popped up online. The iconic moment was shared by none other than Susan Seaforth Hayes, and it featured a true daytime dream team: Susan Flannery, Suzanne Rogers, and Hayes herself.
Best known for her longtime role as Julie Williams on Days of Our Lives, Hayes posted both a “then” and “now” photo collage of the trio. In her caption, she wrote, “3 Susies have breakfast at Art’s Deli.” Soap gold, right?
So what brought these legends together? According to Hayes, the breakfast was a special send-off for Flannery, who is relocating to Australia. In her heartfelt post, she added, “Susan Flannery, one of the great ladies of daytime or anywhere she turns up – is moving to Australia. Flannery was a beloved mentor and pal to Suzanne and me in our early Salem days together. Laughs, love, tears, hugs… just like Salem. We will miss her.”
Susan Flannery Is Moving to Australia
It had recently been announced that Flannery was making the big move, and her soap family made sure to give her a proper farewell. Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke from The Bold and the Beautiful) even shared moments from Flannery’s farewell party on Instagram, writing, “Susan’s going away party… she is moving to Australia! We will miss you, Susan!!”
Susan Flannery’s career has been nothing short of legendary. From 1966 to 1975, she starred as Laura Horton on Days of Our Lives, a role that earned her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress. And where she would become a mentor and friend to both Hayes and Rogers.
She later returned to daytime as the fierce and fabulous Stephanie Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 to 2012 (with a brief appearance in 2018), winning three more Emmys in the process.
Suzanne Rogers, another fan favorite, has played Maggie Horton on Days of Our Lives since 1973. And of course, Susan Seaforth Hayes has been lighting up Salem as Julie Williams on and off since 1968.
Three soap icons. One legendary photo. And a whole lot of history in one frame. Scroll down to see the incredible then-and-now shot that’s got fans (and us) feeling all the feels! (Photo: Instagram.)
