The Bold and the Beautiful’s Tanner Novlan becomes an idol in the latest in his series of commercials for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

You’ve heard the phrase, “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV”? Well, in this case, Tanner Novlan, who plays B&B’s resident practitioner John “Finn” Finnegan, has stepped back into his role as a struggling, word-mangling actor for his most recent advert for Liberty Mutual Insurance – a run he began already in 2019. This time, Novlan’s “Guy from Commercial” meets a plush, namesake “fanboy”…who interrupts his pool game!

Would Steffy be upset to know that Finn has stepped out on her…yet again? Not to worry, the stalwart B&B doctor “Finn” Finnegan is right where he belongs, with Steffy, Hayes, Li, and the ever-circling Sheila – but his portrayer, Tanner Novlan, is at it again with his newest TV ad for Liberty Mutual Insurance, which was released on July 20.

Novlan’s bumbling alter ego, famous for butchering the company’s name and confidently calling it “Liberty Biberty”, made such an impression that he’s still doing the spots seven years after his first appearance – which predates his time on B&B by a year.

In the newest, Novlan is seen doing his “Liberty Biberty” shtick on a pool hall television – and is watched by a fuzzy yellow puppet that looks like a Tribble out of Star Trek, only bigger. The figure enthusiastically tells the dispassionate bartender that its name actually is Liberty Biberty, and “he” goes on to extol the virtues of getting auto insurance through Liberty Mutual.

But “he” is overheard by Novlan’s “Guy from Commercial,” who sternly says, “That’s my line, Liberty Biberty” before making his opening break at the pool table. The talking yellow oval recognizes Novlan’s character and gushingly asks for an autograph, which our human obliges. Unfortunately for the fan puppet, he is unable to read and therefore can’t make out what’s been written on the napkin so generously given to him!

According to the website iSpot, four of Novlan’s Liberty Mutual commercials have “had 81,600 airings” in the past 30 days. In terms of this newest ad, as of this writing it has already been viewed over 7.3 million times…and it only came out yesterday. See it for yourself on YouTube!

Novlan hails from Edmonton, the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta. And he’s not even his household’s only connection to B&B – in 2015, he married Kayla Ewell, who played that soap’s Caitlin Ramírez from 2004 to 2005.
