Ron Masak who briefly played Scott, Big Bear Caretaker on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2015 died of natural causes at the age of 86 on October 20, 2022. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his family
A note of his passing was released on Facebook by his daughter which read, “This is Ron’s daughter and it is with a very heavy and broken heart that today October 20, 2022, our Father Ron Masak passed at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his wife and all six children. Ron was known for his expansive career in the entertainment industry. He was best known as “The King of Commercials,” as well as for his role as Sheriff Mort Metzger on Murder, She Wrote. Ron also spent many years playing an integral role in various charity events for Wounded Warriors, Child Help, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and many more. Most importantly, we will remember him as a husband, a Father, a Papa, a Father in Law, and a great friend. He has touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.”
Masak had a long career in entertainment. He played the popular recurring character Sheriff Mort Metzger in Murder, She Wrote, as well as appearing twice as other characters. He is known as ‘The King of Commercials’.
Masak recently reconnected with Kimberlin Brown (Sheila Carter) and her daughter Alexes Pelzer (Blonde, B&B). Her daughter wrote, “Rest in peace Ron. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you since I was born and I’m just happy you’re in a better place now. Breakfast with you and your sons at the golf tournament was just a few days ago and I’m so happy we created that memory before you left us. I love you Ron.”
His passing comes shortly after the news that Murder, She Wrote lead Angela Lansbury died at age 96. He’s survived by his wife, Kay Knebles, six children and 10 grandchildren.
