Hallmark Celebrates the Show’s Musical Legacy
“The music of The Way Home is an intrinsic part of the series and has been expertly used to set the time and place of each era,” said Michelle Vicary, Head of Programming for Hallmark Media.
She added that releasing the music was an easy decision thanks to the loyalty of the show’s fanbase and the important role music has played in the storytelling.
Throughout its run, The Way Home has used music as more than just background sound. Each era featured carefully selected songs that helped transport viewers through time while strengthening the emotional connection to the characters.
The Showrunners Reflect on the Soundtrack’s Importance
Co-showrunners and executive producers Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke revealed that fans have been requesting an official release of the show’s music since the very beginning.
“We are beyond delighted to be able to do this for The Way Home fans,” they said.
The duo also praised the cast for bringing many of the songs to life, noting that several performers turned out to be talented musicians and singers in addition to accomplished actors.
According to Conkie and Clarke, the release also shines a well-deserved spotlight on the creative team behind the music, including composer Keith Power and music supervisors Jennifer Pyken and Ann Kline.
The pair described the soundtrack as a lasting souvenir for fans as the series comes to an end.
A Soundtrack Built Across Generations
One of the unique challenges of The Way Home was creating a soundtrack that could seamlessly move between different time periods.
Music supervisor Ann Kline explained that every song was chosen to support the show’s central themes of family, friendship, home, and love while maintaining a consistent emotional identity across generations.
Meanwhile, music supervisor Jennifer Pyken highlighted the original songs written by Maria Taylor, Keith Power, and Alan Doyle, praising how naturally they fit into the show’s time-travel narrative.
Together, the music team helped create one of the most distinctive soundscapes currently found on television.
