Singer Carlos Marín has passed away at the age of 53.
Born in Mörfelden-Walldorf, the Spanish baritone, started his career very early on and produced his first album, The Little Caruso, at eight years old.
Known as an accomplished musical performer in various musical genres Marín’s voice and music could be heard in musicals, films and operas. In December 2003, he became a member of the international crossover musical quartet Il Divo created by Simon Cowell.
In August 2005, Marín appeared on The Young and the Restless with the other members of II Divo David Miller, Sebastien Izambard, and Urs Bühler when Victor Newman surprised Nikki Newman with a surprise concert by the group.
In December 2006, Marín and II Divo appeared again on the sudser when the group played at a New Year’s Eve party hosted by Katherine Chancellor.
The group announced Marín’s passing on Twitter, this past Sunday. Marín was performing with the group in the UK before their tour was postponed “due to illness.”
The nature of his illness wasn’t disclosed and the cause of his death has not been confirmed.
