This week, Telma Hopkins is returning to The Young and the Restless to reprise her role as Detective Denise Tolliver. She is in Genoa City to help Nate Hastings and Amy Lewis who is being played by Valerie Petitford. Which means it’s time to cue one of greatest black sitcom intros of all time because rivals Phyllis and Dee Dee from UPN’s Half & Half will be together again.
Half & Half was one of UPN’s (now CW) highest rated shows during its run. Hopkins played Phyllis and Petitford played Dee Dee, both characters at one point were married to the same man and had a child by him. While Phyllis and Dee Dee hated each other, their daughters maintained a close relationship while keeping their mothers at bay.
However, in Genoa City, Hopkins and Petitford will not be at each other’s neck. Hopkin’s character will be helping Petitford’s character find her long lost son. Telma Hopkins was last seen on the Young and the Restless in 2021 where she reunited with Bryton James (Devon), her TV son from Family Matters.
