Lucas Adams and Victoria Grace, as seen on Days of Our Lives as Tripp and Wendy, sat down with Soap Opera News during the Day of Days fan event in Los Angeles. They had a lot to say about their character’s journeys so far and have some ideas as to where they would like it to go next.
Remembering back to when their characters first met, “I broke into his house!” Victoria Grace remembers.
“But in a nice way.” Lucas Adams added, “She was looking for evidence. She wasn’t [exactly] stealing.”
“I had good intentions! But you didn’t know that.” Explains Victoria.
Lucas tells us, “But that’s Tripp’s sort of MO, he’s a good kid with bad intentions.”
“I was very much a rough and tumble tomboy when I came onto the show… he thought I was a man! But then we fell in love.” Victoria concluded.
“Is that it? That’s all you’re going for?” Adams challenged Grace before laughing it off, “Tripp’s been through the loop with relationships. So now he’s really taking his time, one step at a time. He’s after a healthy relationship. Hopefully, it won’t be destructive! But he says that every time.”
When pressed to decide if it is Tripp or his pairings that have been trouble, “Tripp’s not NOT at fault! He has his rough around the edges moments.”
When it comes to Tripp and Wendy not having privacy, “I mean there’s a thousand people at the Kiriakis and DiMera mansions!” Lucas Adams protests, “There’s about 35 bedrooms.”
“A lot of these people are supposed to be rich, right?” Contends Victoria.
“I mean they pay rent for the bedrooms.” Adams jests in return.
When they found themselves mistakenly in Leo’s hotel room, “What a good time! That was hilarious,” celebrates Victoria.
“Yeah I was in my boxers for half an episode… just giving him life advice,” Adams remembers with a smile.
“We’re already living together.” Says Victoria, defending the progress of their relationship so far.
“Yeah, but not alone, they’re still sharing the place.” Lucas counters. “We need to be uninterrupted so Tripp can mess up the relationship.”
“But we’re living in the same place Tripp did with his ex-fiance. Where he helped her raise her kid… and now he’s there with Wendy in the same apartment… probably the same room. It was Allie’s apartment, it’s not even mine! I must be the poorest doctor in all of Salem.” laughs Lucas.
“And I’m head of IT and I need 3 roommates in order to get this apartment?” Victoria adds with a chuckle.
On Wendy’s continuing journey and where Victoria Grace would like to see it go, “When she came onto the show, her whole thing was to prove herself to her family. It was a very patriarchal family from China. In order to do that, she was climbing up the DiMera corporate ladder and was very focused on work.”
“But then this guy sort of turned her world upside down. She’s becoming more in tune with herself, but her first priority has become her relationship with Tripp. I would definitely love it if she became focused on work again and stay the independent woman she’s been! She’s so capable. Not that I don’t love our scenes [together with Lucas]. It would be good to see what her other goals are.”
When it comes to continuing stories for the future, they had some launching point ideas for greater stories.
“I don’t want anything to happen to Wendy’s parents, but if something did happen to her dad she’d have to be the chair of DiMera.” said Victoria.
“I’d love to work with Black Patch some more, the PI Doctor. the PIPhD!” said Lucas. (Photo: JPI)
