Ever since Beyond the Gates introduced viewers to June (Jasmine Burke) and that faded photo of two kids she keeps close, fans have been in full-on theory mode. Is she connected to Martin and Smitty’s adopted children? Could she be tied to The Articulettes? Maybe even related to Hayley? The speculation has been wild.
But after the July 28 episode, one theory is starting to rise above the rest: June’s children might actually be Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Samantha (Najah Jackson).
Let’s rewind for a second.
Who Are June’s Children?
June first showed up back in April as a homeless woman living in Tent City. She was arrested after attacking a social worker who tried to toss her belongings. While her introduction was intense, it didn’t take long for her to form a complicated but natural bond with Naomi and Jacob. They took on her legal case, and soon after, June was hospitalized and underwent heart surgery.
Through it all, she never let go of a faded photo of two kids. At first, it seemed like nothing but viewers knew there was more to it.
Later on, Naomi took a closer look and noticed a phone number written on the photo. When she called, a woman named Regina (Jacinte Blakenship) answered. Turns out, she’s June’s sister.
Regina dropped a big piece of the puzzle: the kids in the photo are named Ron and Cecile. They were adopted by the state after June abandoned them years ago. According to Regina, June wasn’t cut out for motherhood and left the kids behind.
Still, that hasn’t stopped the internet from running with its own version of the story. A growing number of fans believe that Ron and Cecile could actually be Samantha and Tyrell, the children now being raised by Martin and Smitty. The theory has picked up serious steam on fan pages and Reddit threads, especially after the latest episode of Beyond the Gates.
So what’s the truth?
Right now, nothing yet. But that doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that they might have been adopted by Martin and Smitty. This is Beyond the Gates, after all. Stranger things have happened.
With Regina on the scene, more pieces are bound to come together. Until then, stay tuned.
