The latest General Hospital storyline and a Google AI overview summary have many convinced that Cameron Mathison is finally taking a bow as Drew Cain. However, none of it is true.

It’s Only a Rumor

Per a report from Soap Opera Digest, sources have confirmed that while Mathison is indeed working on outside projects, a GH exit is not in the actor’s immediate future.

In story, Willow Tait Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) was granted a not guilty verdict after being on trial for attempted murder.

As viewers would remember, her husband, Congressman Drew Cain, was shot twice in the back at his own home. While on the stand and through flashbacks, viewers discovered that even though she had adamantly declared her innocence, Willow was indeed guilty of the crime.

And lo and behold, the not guilty verdict led to another act of violence by Willow. During a moment where they popped champagne and toasted to the future, Willow plugged Drew’s neck with a syringe, and he was subsequently hospitalized.

Cameron Mathison Is Not Leaving General Hospital

Understandably, given the doctor’s report, viewers would assume this could be it for Cameron and his GH alter ego.

Added to that, when fans search on Google, the first thing that comes up is the AI overview, which generally generates collective information from several sources to form a response.

A screenshot of that response has been circulating on social media. Unfortunately, the response is some misinformation that Mathison has left the show, and his final scenes aired this month. That is not the case.

Currently, Cameron Mathison is doing a media tour promoting Great American Family’s programming slate for 2026. The actor also took some time from LA to film the third installment of Home Sweet Christmas with Cameron Candace Bure in Europe.

A gentle reminder: always verify that the information comes from reputable sources. We have a number of them, and you can add Soap Opera News to that list.
