Was death the only option left in the book for Kiki Jerome on General Hospital? No, but according to the writers, it was the best option. In the new Soap Opera Digest magazine, Shelly Altman (Co-Head Writer) speaks out on why the show decided to kill off Kiki. When the show realized that it was not possible for Hayley Erin to play both Kiki and her new character on The Perfectionists, the question of the character’s fate came into play. Of course, an option for a recast or leaving the door open for a return was possible. But with consideration of the current storytelling on the ABC daytime drama and Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) as Port Charles’ serial killer, someone who mattered had to die. The timing, the character, and everything taken into consideration for such a move were just right. While the show execs were sad to see Hayley go, they wish her the best with her new project. Hayley is set to play a character on Pretty Little Liars reboot called The Perfectionists. She’s also set to play a role in the film Mama Bear by her GH co-star Matt Cohen (Griffin). The film also allowed a reunion with her former GH co-star, Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos Rivera). Erin noted that she would be totally open to returning to GH one day whether in a dream sequence or as a ghost. Please stay tuned for updates.
