Can We Keep Him?
Actor Jason Gerhardt has
fans all in their feels as he temporarily fills in as “Eric Brady” on Days
of Our Lives!
Of course, Greg Vaughan,
who portrays “Eric” is a huge fan favorite, deservedly so, and Gerhardt in the
role is turning more than a few heads himself. So, much so that we are
wondering, “How can we keep Gerhardt around?”
Before we get into that,
for those who might not be familiar with Gerhardt, he is no stranger to
daytime. He played “Cooper Barrett” on General
Hospital in 2007-2008. In addition, Gerhardt’s acting credits include
television shows such as NCIS, Chicago Med, Mistresses,
and CSI among others.
Back to keeping Gerhardt in
Salem. Days enjoys an extensive lineage, which in the spirit of Gerhardt
playing an existing character in the Days’ character vault, there are
several characters he could portray, for instance, Jeremy Horton.
Jeremy Horton is the son of
Mike Horton and Robin Jacobs. He first appeared on screen in May 1989 and was
portrayed in 1989 by Jeremy Allen and Jeffrey Clark. After a brief stay in
Salem Jeremy left the canvas with mom, Robin. He returned in 2007, in his
mid-twenties, played by Trevor Donovan. During this stint, Jeremy, a pilot, was
working for the DiMera family flying a plane and smuggling merchandise.
Unbeknown to Jeremy, his friend and co-pilot, Jett Carver was also an
undercover ISA agent. Carver exposed the illegal scheme which caused Jeremy to
high tail it out of Salem.
Why Jeremy Horton?
The Hortons are a beloved,
core-legacy family in daytime. Notwithstanding, Salem and the Horton
house could use more Hortons. Jeremy was paired with Stephanie Johnson the last
time he was canvas so there is built in romantic history to start the soap
shipping game.
And although everybody can
appreciate the “goodness” of the Hortons (most of them at least lol) the mere
idea of Jeremy returning with an edge still intact is intriguing. A
good-looking Horton man with an edge? Sold! Plus, fans have already fallen for
Gerhardt with good reason, so Gerhardt as Jeremy Horton? We vote, yes!
