Brenda Epperson, a multifaceted star recently sat down for an interesting chat with Soap Opera News. Epperson has crossed the paths of acting, singing, and co-founding a worship conference for women. She is recognized for her many talents which include; songwriting, television hosting, and speaking, various philanthropic ventures, singing and acting. She is currently the founding co-director of the non-profit “Ascend Women”. She is also well-known for playing the roles of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless for 8 years and Crystal Harris on ‘Passions’. Check out our very interesting interview with her below as she discusses her time on daytime soap operas, current and future projects, life after soaps and more.
How has life been since soaps?
Brenda: Life since Soaps has been quite FULL in every sense of the word. I have three beautiful daughters, I’ve been married 15 years. Signed with Sony Tri/Star music, opened for Lionel Richie, toured Europe, Hosted and produced talk shows infomercials, magazine covers, I have a thriving women’s ministry, finishing up my book, working on new music in LA and Nashville, I’m currently on the show “The Rich and the Ruthless,” as well as some other fun surprises I’m involved in. I am passionate about helping and motivating people to stir HOPE inside of everyone, reminding them that their life matters and each one of us can make a huge difference in this world. For good!
You played a couple daytime soap opera roles in the past such as; Ashley or Y&R and Crystal on Passions – can you tell us about your soap opera experience?
Brenda:Soaps were really a launching pad for my acting career. I moved back to LA after high school to work on my music and was a studio singer when I was given an opportunity to work in television, and booked Y&R. The TV show Passions was wonderful as it allowed me to sing and act, I had a ball. Was a nice set to work on.
The current Ashley Abbott, Eileen Davidson is leaving Y&R – many fans think you should reprise the role at least until she is ready to do soaps again, do you agree? What are your thoughts on that?
Brenda:I have only heard through social media as people have been constantly asking me if I’m coming back. I have a full life and career currently, it would have to be the right scenario.
You’re also playing Edith Norman on The Rich & the Ruthless where you reconnect with your former Y&R co-star, Victoria Rowell – can you tell us what it is like being a part of the cast?
Brenda:Ok, I have had the time of my life playing Edith Norman on UMC’s “The Rich and The Ruthless” because for the first time, I’m the ruthless and I have to say it feels good! [laughs] What a fun character the incredibly talented writer, director, producer Victoria Rowell has created. I have always admired Victoria personally for who she is. I believe The Rich and the Ruthless highlights and showcases many of Victoria’s incredible talents. I cannot pay enough compliments about the cast, crew and the set. There is a kindness and freedom on this set and show that I have never experienced before. I have never felt so safe on a set before, which has allowed me a new creative freedom I have never experienced. #METOO
It is said that you’re working on some new music, can you preview what’s to come?
Brenda:I have been working on new music YES, some specifically for movies, therefore, I cannot “let the cat out of the bag” yet, but you’ll be the first to know when all is complete!
Do you have any other projects on the horizon that you can talk about?
Brenda:I am working on more music and something I am co-producing in August, but cannot promote yet if you’d like to check back with me Sept-Oct. We could talk then. If you want to keep up with all I’m doing, please go to http://wwwBrendaEpperson.com sending tons of love to you all and #JustBEkind

I would LOVE for Brenda to reprise her role on Y & R…..DEFINITELY!!! Always preferred her in the role….the Chemistry was there for her and others she played against. Hope it can benefit her and they can make a "way" for her. Think the ratings would go up!!! Just sayin!!
