The Young and the Restless Recap for Tuesday, August 8, 2023:
Today on The Young and the Restless, Phyllis stops at nothing to protect Summer, Abby targets Diane, and Audra turns to Nate for guidance.
Y&R Recap Today
Nikki is discovered in Victoria’s office by Victoria and Nate. Victoria wonders if she is avoiding her own office for a reason. She says no; she was hoping to talk with her. Nate receives a text from Audra summoning him, claiming that the situation is urgent. He requests to be excused and departs.
Audra is distressed and thanks Nate for coming so quickly. She begs him to keep what she has to say in confidence as her future is hanging in the balance. Audra explains that she has a serious problem involving Adam and asks that he not tell Victoria. Audra goes on to confess that when she worked for Tucker, he tasked her with erasing evidence that his record label covered up that one of their singers had committed statutory rape while on tour. Unfortunately, Audra overlooked one incriminating email that Adam found. She explains that to keep Adam silent, he needs Victor to agree to a merger of McCall and Newman Media. To that end, Audra asks Nate to get Victoria to persuade her father that the merger would make sense.
Y&R Recap Today
Victoria confronts her mother for putting Nate on the spot while she was away. Nikki confirms her dinner date with Nate but reassures Victoria that it is nothing to overreact about. Given his role at the company and in her daughter’s life, she had to do it. Of course, Nikki begs Victoria to tell her that she isn’t falling in love with Nate because he had already said he isn’t in love with her. Victoria notes that she is content with their current relationship status and isn’t ready for that type of love, especially with all that she had been through. Nikki encourages her to put the past aside and love again, but Victoria asks her to back off when it comes to Nate.
Audra later meets with Tucker, who apologizes for what had happened. She tells him that things are far from over but she is handling it. This isn’t what Tucker wanted to hear.
Y&R Recap Today
Phyllis admits to Summer that her freedom is reliant on Tucker McCall. She explains that Tucker located Carson, who can clear her name, and she still needs his testimony. Phyllis reveals that Carson witnessed the altercation between her and Stark, and he’s her only hope. She also mentions that she used Adam’s help to gain leverage against Tucker and he has since rescinded the agreement. Summer is shocked and questions Phyllis’s judgment in involving Adam. She accuses her mother of lacking ethics and being unwilling to change. Phyllis defends herself but Summer walks out, frustrated. Phyllis then meets with Christine and Heather at Crimson Lights to negotiate a deal. Heather wants to speak with Phyllis privately, but she insists on taking the deal and pleading guilty to protect her daughter at all costs.
Tucker assures Daniel that he has nothing to worry about when it comes to his mother. There are no games, secret plans, or collusion of any kind involving her. Tucker and Phyllis both share a distrust and dislike for Diane, and Phyllis is currently working to make a change. Daniel advises Tucker to enjoy his drink and steer clear of his mother.
After finishing a call with Zelda at the office, Jack gets a visit from Abby. She is happy that he keeps in touch with Zelda and supports Traci’s writing endeavors. However, Abby is upset about the tension between him and her mother, which has escalated over the charts. She informs Jack that Ashley and Tucker are getting married at the Chancellor estate next week, to which Jack is shocked. Abby believes Tucker has changed, but Jack disagrees. He thinks Tucker is still trying to tear Jabot apart. Abby believes her mother is leading the attack, not Tucker, due to her hatred of Diane. Abby wants to mend the bond between her mother and uncle, but she cannot do it alone. Jack agrees to have one last attempt at peace with Ashley, but he is not willing to turn his back on Diane.
Summer meets with Daniel and tells him about her argument with their mother. Summer was trying to persuade their mom not to take the plea deal, but it ended up in an argument. Daniel thinks their mother should serve time in prison rather than Summer. Summer agrees, knowing that it is the only way for them to move forward. They both agree that their mother has to pay a price for what she has done, but not at their expense.
