Y&R Recap September 1, 2023: Nikki Gives Audra A Shocking Ultimatum

The Young and the Restless Recap for Friday, September 1, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Nikki gives Audra a risky assignment, Jack and Ashley call a truce, and Billy pushes Adam’s buttons.

Y&R Recap Today

Nikki runs into Summer at Crimson Lights and asks how things are going with her and Kyle. Summer tells her that they’re going through with the divorce. Nikki suggests that they just need time but Summer tells her that Kyle has already moved on, with Audra. Summer is surprised that Nikki hadn’t already heard since they both work at Newman Media and haven’t been discreet. Nikki can’t believe they are really over and tells her to look at her and Victor and all they have overcome.

Summer tells Nikki that she tried to get Kyle to forgive her but he can’t so she has to let him go. Nikki can’t believe he’s involved with Audra but tells Summer she found out at the perfect time because she’s in the position to put Audra in her place. Summer asks her not to do anything to Audra on her account because she just wants to keep things peaceful with Kyle for Harrison’s sake. Nikki tells her that she has more issues with Audra than just Summer’s situation. She says that Audra needs a healthy dose of humility and asks if Summer would really be upset if she were the one to give it to her. Summer admits that she wouldn’t.

Y&R Recap Today

Kyle and Audra are finishing lunch at the GAC when Nate interrupts and asks if Audra has talked to anyone from Newman. She hasn’t and he tells her that they need to speak in private. Audra says that if it involves Newman Media then Kyle should hear it too. Nate tells them about Victor pushing Adam out completely and making Nikki CEO of Newman Media. Audra thinks she is being fired, but Nate tells her that Victor made her Nikki’s second in command. Kyle wants to know where all of this leaves him.

Nate tells him that he doesn’t know because Kyle wasn’t mentioned. Audra promises to go to bat for him with Nikki and it should be fine unless Nikki has something against him. Kyle brings up the fact that he and Summer are getting divorced. They don’t know if Nikki knows about Kyle and Audra but if she doesn’t she will and things will get ugly fast. Audra asks who it will get ugly for and Kyle says they will know soon enough.

Audra promises to have his back, but he says he won’t hold his breath because he knows he’s not important to Newman Media yet. Audra tells him to see how it plays out. Kyle leaves to go back to the office and after he’s gone Nate tells her that Kyle probably won’t keep his job. Audra says that whatever happens will happen. Nate calls her cold and she tells him that she and Kyle aren’t serious and he can take care of himself. She leaves to go meet Nikki and tells him to wish her luck.

Y&R Recap Today

Jack goes to Ashley’s room and tells her that Diane told him what happened. He asks how she’s doing and she tells him that she’s not sure what she’s having a harder time dealing with, almost dying or the woman she thought wanted her dead saving her. Jack tells her that Diane doesn’t want her dead. Jack tells her that Diane was just as shaken up by the whole thing as she was and asks if she really thought Diane would just watch her die.

Ashley says that the thought crossed her mind. Jack says that Diane never even thought about it. He says that as soon as she saw Ashley was in trouble all of the issues between them didn’t matter anymore. He adds that if the situations were reversed he thinks she would have done the same thing. She asks how he knows and he tells her that beneath her armor she is as gracious and compassionate as their father was.

She thanks him for saying that and he tells her that he’s grateful to God and Diane that he didn’t lose her. Ashley says that she is thankful too and Jack asks if they can use this as a wakeup call to get past the fighting and back to what matters. She reminds him that she ended the conflict and he tells her that she walked away and that isn’t what he wants. He tells her that the thought of losing her for even a second kills him and he begs her to come back.

Ashley asks if he can accept Tucker and Jack promises to try. Ashley admits that she knows Diane wouldn’t actually try to kill him and promises to try to give Diane the benefit of the doubt. She tells him that she will back down but if Diane does anything to hurt him she will go after her with a vengeance. Ashley tearfully tells him that she misses him.

Jack asks if she is still planning on starting a new company to compete with Jabot and she tells him that she needs to talk to Tucker and think about things. Jack tells her that all he cares about is that they are brother and sister again and they hug each other.

Y&R Recap Today

Billy is drinking at the Jazz club and thinking about his argument with Jack when Adam comes in, sits down, and orders a drink. Billy tells him that for the first time, he sees the world through his eyes and it’s not pretty. Adam asks what happened and Billy says he understands how it feels to live in the shadows of someone who sees you as something they’ve created in their head. They talk about Adam not living up to his family’s expectations and Adam asks what Jack’s done now.

Billy doesn’t want to tell him and Adam talks about the similarities between them and their families. He asks if Jack is threatening to take Jabot away from Billy and Billy tells him that he’s not but he always seems to be waiting for him to screw up and it’s getting old. Billy asks about the information he offered about Tucker and Adam tells him that he might need to keep the information for himself. Billy thanks him for the tease and leaves.

Nate comes into the Jazz club and Adam calls him the newly appointed golden boy of Newman Media. Nate says he wouldn’t call himself that. He tells Adam that he impressed Victor by working hard so he kept his job but didn’t get promoted. Adam says he doesn’t have his job and it’s ironic. He advises Nate not to get too comfortable before leaving.

Nikki thanks Audra for meeting her at the ranch. Audra thanks her for inviting her. Audra asks if the meeting is about Newman Media and Nikki tells her that they will get to that but first, she wants to know what the hell she is doing with Kyle. Audra starts to talk about how Kyle is doing at the company, but Nikki cuts her off and says that’s not what she is talking about; she is talking about the fling she is having with Kyle.

Audra says that Summer and Kyle are getting a divorce and Nikki tells her that he is playing a game and she is standing in the way of a reconciliation. Audra brings up Summer not being blameless in the separation and Nikki wants to know what her point is. They go back and forth and Audra tells her that she’s not comfortable talking about her private life with her new boss. Nikki realizes that Nate told Audra the news and then Audra asks her if she is in or if she is out.

Nikki tells her that her instincts tell her to get rid of Audra because of the pain she has caused the people in her life but Audra does do good work. Audra thanks her for noticing and Nikki says that it’s her job to notice. Nikki tells Audra that Victor thinks a lot of her so she has decided to give her a chance. Audra thanks her and Nikki tells her that she has a condition. She tells Audra to leave Kyle alone so he and Summer have a chance or her future at Newman Media is over.

Y&R Recap Today

Summer is in the park and Kyle sees her. They have a nice talk about Harrison and their jobs. He tells her about the shake-up at Newman Media and says he doesn’t know how it will affect him. Summer tells him that she’s sure he will survive because he always does. Summer tells Kyle that Heather is going to be in town for a while and that she asked her to help with the divorce and Heather agreed. Kyle tells her that it’s for the best and she agrees. She says they both need to move on and he agrees.

Jack and Billy run into each other at Crimson Lights and Jack asks if they can talk. He tells him that he left many messages apologizing and tells him about his conversation with Ashely. Jack tells Billy that he wants to do the same with him. Billy asks if he bought all that and Jack tells him that what happened with Ashley was real, he guarantees it.

In her room, Ashley remembers a conversation she had with her father about her and Jack and then texts Tucker and asks him to meet her at the airport for an impromptu honeymoon in Paris. She says she needs to get away from all of this. Outloud she says she has to figure things out.
