Y&R Recap February 8, 2024: Today on The Young and the Restless –Victor and Nikki reach a compromise, Devon backs Daniel into a corner, and Phyllis keeps up appearances.
Diane is about to leave the GCAC when she bumps into Phyllis. They exchange pleasantries and Phyllis mentions how everyone’s been noticing her glow. Diane explains she’s super busy and barely has time to catch her breath with all the meetings she has. She apologizes for cutting the conversation short, but Phyllis doesn’t let it get to her. Then Diane drops the big news about her promotion, running Jabot alongside her husband. Phyllis accuses her of scheming, but Diane swears she had nothing to do with it. Phyllis boasts about having someone who really cares about her, saying it’s way better than getting a pity position from her husband.

In the apartment, Lucy is over the moon after the gallery show and even happier that they all got to go together. She’s stoked her parents are back together, but Heather tells her to keep it on the low until Daniel talks to Lily. Lucy wonders if her dad might change his mind when he sees Lily and decide to stay with her. Heather doesn’t see any reason to worry. Anyway, they decide to go over to Crimson Lights for a mochaccino. Danny gets home and they ask him to join, but he says no.
Daniel runs into Devon at Crimson Lights. Devon wastes no time and asks if he’s talk to Lily yet, but Daniel says he’s waiting for the right moment. Devon then wonders if Daniel will keep cheating on her in the meantime. Daniel says he and Heather decided to hold off everything until he talks to Lily. He then suggests heading to California right away to come clean, but he’s not sure if she’s ready. Devon tells Daniel he’s putting him in an awkward spot by keeping his secret. They argue about how Daniel is handling the situation with his sister, and Daniel questions if Devon is in any position to judge.

Later, Heather and Lucy show up as Devon leaves. Lucy says they’re grabbing some mochaccino and invites him to join, but he declines. Lucy also mentions that his dad was just at the apartment and didn’t seem okay, so Daniel goes to check on him. Then Phyllis arrives and notices the energy between the girls, asking what’s up. Lucy says they’re just having a good day. When Phyllis inquires about Daniel, they inform her that he left to check on his dad because something’s bothering him.
While Danny is working on his music, Daniel walks in and starts bombarding him with questions. Danny talks about what’s been going down with Christine and Phyllis. He feels like he needs to distance himself from both of them. Later, Daniel reveals that him and Heather patching things up, and Lily’s still in the dark about it. Then Phyllis shows up out of the blue, claiming she’s inviting her son to lunch. While Daniel takes a call from Lily, Phyllis starts laying on the charm with Danny. But Danny sets the record straight, saying he only sees her as a friend, while she’s out here thinking they could be something more. As he leaves, he bumps into Christine.

Victor and Jack walk into the bar and find Nikki totally knocked out at the table. Victor shakes her awake, and as soon as she sees Jack, she goes, “No, no, no, what did you do? What did you do?” She’s putting all the blame on Jack, even though Victor is trying to convince her that everything’s okay. While Victor helps her up, Jack grabs her purse before they all leave the bar.
In the car on their way to the Ranch, Victor hands Nikki a bottle of water. He questions her why choose Jack of all people to be her sponsor. Nikki tells him that she needs someone who really gets what she’s going through, and that’s Jack. She begs Victor to understand and not to make a big deal out of it. Nikki then tells him she’s not ready to go home yet. She wants to grab a bite, and then swing by Jack. Victor’s still not cool with Jack being in the picture, but Nikki insists that if he really wants to support her through this, he’s got to let her do it her way. Victor finally agrees to go see Jack, but he promises to give him a piece of his mind.

Jack goes home and pours himself a drink. He reflects on a argument he had with Victor way back when he was married Nikki. Just then, Diane walks in and she’s all ready to tell him about her ridiculous run-in with Phyllis. However, she can totally tell something’s up with Jack and asks him about it. So Jack reveals he told Victor the truth about being Nikki’s sponsor and how they found Nikki at some dive bar, and now she’s really mad at him for it. Diane questions if Victor will have issues with him being Nikki’s sponsor, but Jack is certain that he won’t mess with that.

Victor and Nikki roll up to the Abbott mansion. Victor finds out that Diane was in the loop about Jack being Nikki’s sponsor. “Well, so much for discretion,” he mutters. Diane assures him she’ll keep Nikki’s situation under wraps and heads off to the office. As they settle in, Nikki tells Victor that she wanted to keep things hush-hush from him. Nikki lays out her reasons for wanting Jack as her sponsor. Despite his displeasure, Victor goes along with it but warns Jack that he’ll be in deep trouble if anything happens to Nikki.
