What happened today on The Young and the Restless: Sharon confronts Summer about her feelings for Chance, Daniel and Heather clear the air, and Danny gives Daniel unsolicited advice.

Victoria is worried about Claire, who has been sleeping a lot lately. Victoria shares her concerns with a doctor, thinking that Claire might be shutting people out. The doctor allows Victoria to sit with Claire and promises to check on them later.
While Claire is sleeping, Victoria speaks to her, telling her that she understands how hard it is to trust people after everything she has been through. Victoria assures Claire that she is safe with them, as she and Cole just want to get to know her, be there for her, and love her. Victoria also brings two books and places them on the bed. Just as Claire wakes up, Victoria wishes her a happy new year.

Phyllis and Christine run into each other at Crimson Lights. Phyllis compliments Christine for spending New Year’s Eve with Danny, while Christine suggests that Phyllis can do better than Tucker. Phyllis defends Tucker, saying that he’s fun to be with.
Christine then mentions that she knows about Phyllis’s move on Danny, and it’s because of their old rivalry. As they argue about Danny, Summer walks in and asks if they want to start the new year this way. Christine decides to leave, and Phyllis thinks she was trying to provoke her.
Summer confronts Phyllis about chasing Danny. Phyllis admits that she kissed Danny and thinks he likes her. She believes she is a better match for Danny and says that she’s single, unlike Christine who’s still married. Phyllis says she’s keeping her options open until Danny tells her he’s not interested. Phyllis believes that when there’s a real connection between two people, it can’t be ignored, just like the one between Summer and Chance. She tells Summer to go after Chance.
Meanwhile, Sharon overhears their conversation outside Crimson Lights. After Phyllis leaves, Sharon approaches Summer and says she overheard them. Summer apologizes and asks Sharon if she’s in love with Chance. Sharon says their relationship is pretty casual at the moment. Chance walks in and senses something is wrong.

Lucy asks Daniel about her mother, assuming she spent the night. Daniel informs her that her mother left after midnight. Lucy shows him a picture of them asleep on the couch and expresses her desire to have breakfast together like old times. Daniel is lost in thought as Lucy returns to her room. He reflects on kissing Heather but claims to be thinking about work when questioned by Lucy. They decide to make banana pancakes for breakfast and Danny gets excited about it.
Lucy secretly invites her mother for breakfast, claiming it was her father’s suggestion. Christine arrives and comments on how good the place smells. Danny tells her that his son is making pancakes with Lucy. They talk about their amazing New Year’s Eve and Christine suggests taking a special trip together. Danny loves the idea. As Christine leaves to put plans together, Heather arrives and things are a little awkward, but they all sit together and enjoy the pancakes. Danny asks Daniel what’s going on between him and Heather, and they have a private conversation while Lucy and Heather clean up.
