The Young and the Restless Recap January 4, 2024
What happened today on The Young and the Restless: Nikki fights the temptation to drink, Chance makes a confession to Sharon, and Victoria works on her relationship with Claire.
Y&R Recap Today, January 4, 2024
Chance interrupts Sharon and Summer’s conversation and notices the awkwardness between them. He asks what they were talking about and Summer lies and tells him it was about Marchetti’s new fashion line. She makes an excuse and leaves quickly.
After she is gone, Chance asks what they were really talking about, and Sharon covers and tells him they were talking about how great he was. He doesn’t believe her but backs down and they share a kiss.
They sit down to have coffee together, and Chance asks her about her company. She tells him everything is going great and they make plans to attend the launch party together. Sharon asks about his company plans, and he tells her he is still joining Chancellor – Winters.
He says that Billy offered to mentor him, but he doesn’t want that. Sharon pivots away from the subject and asks him if he would be interested in Summer if they weren’t dating.
Sharon tells him that she thinks Summer is interested in him, but Chance disagrees and makes it clear to her that he is exactly where he wants to be. She tells him that she isn’t in a place where she wants anything serious and Chance says that he is happy with how things are between them.

Nikki is at the office but struggling because she can’t stop thinking about what happened to her. Audra comes in and sees her upset and tells her that she knows what she is going through. Nikki is surprised and asks her what she means and Audra confides in her that her father was an alcoholic and she knows the signs of someone who is tempted to drink. Audra tells Nikki that her father lost his battle with alcohol and Nikki expresses her sympathies. Audra tells Nikki that if she ever needs someone to talk to she can talk to her but Nikki tells her that she is fine and that she and her family are just dealing with some issues right now.

When Claire wakes up, she is surprised to see Victoria at her bedside. Victoria tells her that she brought her some books and was just sitting there and talking to her while she slept. Claire confides in her about her nightmares and fears, and Victoria does her best to be supportive, but Claire doesn’t feel she deserves the support.
Victoria tries to assure her daughter that she doesn’t blame her for what happened, but Claire thinks it is just a matter of time before that changes and wants Victoria to leave and not return. She tells her mother that she is going to tell the staff to not let her or Cole back in to visit. Victoria tries to talk her out of it, but Claire refuses to budge.

Summer goes to Daniel’s and he figures out that she is there to do more than admire his decorating. He asks if she wants to talk about Chance and she is shocked that he knows how she feels. She tells him that she isn’t going to pursue Chance because he is dating Sharon and they talk about the situation with Daniel and Heather.
Daniel insists that things between him and Heather and over and that he is happy with Lily. Summer asks if he has made that clear to Heather and he says that he has while also wondering why Heather would even want to give it another shot with him.
Summer reminds him that he and Heather were happy for a long time, and now that he has changed, she could want that back. Daniel tells her that he and Heather are in a different place now and Summer thinks she will accept it as long as Daniel is not sending mixed messages. Daniel asks about her conversation with Phyllis about Chance and asks if she wants a different opinion or if she is secretly hoping Daniel agrees with her. Summer tells him she doesn’t know what kind of advice she wants and tells him that she can’t help how she feels about Chance no matter what she does.
She admits that she wonders if the feelings go both ways with them. Summer tells him about her conversation with Sharon and decides that she is going to test the waters with Chance because things don’t seem serious between him and Sharon.

Nikki goes to Society and orders sparkling water but adds vodka to it when the bartender isn’t looking. Nate comes in before she can drink it. He tells her that he hopes she isn’t upset with him for telling Victor she was drinking again, and she says she isn’t happy about it. Nate asks her if she was wrong. He tells her that it wasn’t in retaliation for him being fired and she is happy to hear that. She cuts him off when he offers his help if she needs it and he backs down and leaves her alone. After he walks away Nikki leaves without drinking the drink.

Back at the office Nikki and Audra are working when Victoria comes in and asks to speak to her mother alone. Once Audra leaves Victoria asks Nikki how she is doing, Nikki tells her what happened at Society and tells her that Nate is why she didn’t drink. Nikki explains why she feels that way and Victoria tells her that Nate is a kind and compassionate man. Nikki asks Victoria what she is upset about and Victoria confides in her mother that she is scared she is losing Claire forever.
