What happened today on The Young and the Restless: Sharon relies on the past to make a decision about her future.
Y&R Recap Today, January 5, 2024
Sharon is at Crimson Lights. She has a dream of seeing Chance in a suit and asks him if he has changed, but he says he has been wearing the suit all day. Sharon remembers him in something more casual. Summer comes in elegantly dressed and stands by Chance’s side while asking Sharon if she is ready. Sharon seems lost, but they remind her they are going to celebrate the deal she made between Kirsten Incorporated and Chancellor Winters.
Sharon heads over to the GCAC for her celebration. Billy approaches and thanks her. Summer wonders where her dad is, as he should be there. Sharon asks if she is dreaming, but Chance assures her that this is her reality. As Summer steps away to talk to her mom, Sharon asks Chance if he is dating Summer now. He says that he and Sharon have not been together for a while, and she let him go, telling him that she was doing him a favor. Sharon wonders if he is happy now. He says it took a while to get over her, but he is happy now, especially since he realizes that there is only one person for her, referring to Nick, who walks past. Chance tells her not to let him slip away again, and Sharon follows Nick over to the Jazz Lounge.
Y&R Recap Today
Nick is seated having a drink when Phyllis comes and offers to buy him one. Nick says he is waiting for someone. Phyllis thinks it is Sharon and says that it will never work again because he will never love her the way she loves him, as Sharon looks on. Later, Sharon sees Mariah and Tessa and is happy to see them. She explains that she feels like she is in a dream, and everything is just disconcerting. They advise her to take control of things. Adam joins the conversation and points out that all men have been distractions for Sharon except for Nick, who is her true love. Sharon says she loved Rey, too, but Adam thinks those were just dark temptations, just like Phyllis has been for Nick.
Billy takes Sharon to Crimson Lights, where they talk about their past. Nick and Phyllis arrive, and Billy offers to take care of Phyllis. Nick turns on the music and asks Sharon to dance. They decide to reenact Nick and Sharon’s wedding, where Phyllis and Nick’s infidelity is revealed.
After the chaos, Nick admits to Sharon that he has been a big jerk to her and he never meant to hurt her. He says he’s happy with where they are, despite their rocky history. Sharon wonders if Nick wants to try again, but he doesn’t give her a clear answer.

Later, Sharon returns to the party, where Summer announces her engagement to Chance. Sharon reflects on her past relationships with Nick and wonders why things never worked out.
Nick talks to Summer about his failed relationship with Phyllis and says he thinks they were too different. He also mentions his other relationships, including with Sally and Sharon, and admits that he screwed things up with Sharon too many times.
Chance wakes Sharon from her dream. He tells her that he wants to fall in love with her, but Sharon tells him she’s not looking for anything serious right now. He thinks she just doesn’t want to get hurt again, but she notes that she doesn’t see a future with Chance. Sharon breaks up with him, and they share a final kiss.
