The first major casting news under new co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor is officially here! TV Insider confirms that actress Tetona Jackson has joined The Young and the Restless as a recast for Roxanne Barrington—Devon Winters’ (Bryton James) ex-girlfriend.
Jackson is set to make her debut on the CBS daytime drama next month, with the new writing regime’s material kicking off on November 11.
The role of Roxanne was originally created by Tatyana Ali, who played the character from 2007 until Roxanne departed Genoa City in 2013. Roxanne and Devon shared a memorable on-again, off-again romance during her original run, and her sudden return is bound to stir things up for Devon!
Who is Tetona Jackson?
Tetona Jackson brings an impressive and diverse resume to Genoa City. Born to jazz musician Fred Jackson Jr., she grew up watching her father perform at gigs, which inspired her to pursue a career in entertainment. Before diving into acting, Jackson did musical theater and toured as a professional figure skater with Disney on Ice.
Jackson made her on-screen debut as a background dancer on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally before landing her breakout role as Cassie Fulner in the teen comedy series All Night.
Her career continued to soar with major roles, including starring as Simone Graham in the BET reboot series Boomerang, recurring as Mabel on Freeform’s Good Trouble, guesting on Chicago Med, and starring as Nina on the sitcom Poppa’s House.
Interestingly, Jackson already shares a personal tie to the soap world! She was previously in a relationship with actor Tequan Richmond, who famously played TJ Ashford on General Hospital. The former couple hit it off after co-starring together on Boomerang and welcomed a daughter, Harlie, in early 2021.
Do you think Tetona Jackson is a good choice to play Roxanne Barrington, and should Roxanne and Devon give their romance another chance?
