Victoria confirms Claire as their daughter and apologizes for doubting her at the lake house, acknowledging how they thought they were going to die. Claire acknowledges that it’s true that her aunt had the power to kill them and conceal the truth that Claire is actually their daughter.
Cole reassures Claire that she was always wanted and loved, even though her aunt raised her to believe otherwise. When Victoria asks about her aunt Jordan’s whereabouts and plans, Claire confesses that she has no idea. Claire hasn’t heard from Jordan since the incident at the lake house.
Claire asks what they would have done if they had known she was alive years ago. They admit that they would have tried to find her. Claire feels like she can’t let things go and that she is only capable of hatred, but Cole disagrees. Victoria promises that it won’t be easy, but they will focus on helping Claire heal. Victoria leaves to sign some papers, and Claire tells Cole that even though she was trained to read people, she has no idea what he’s thinking. Cole says that guilt is his primary feeling, and he talks about growing up with a mother who hid her mental issues. He believes that this whole ordeal is because of his mother and what happened between her and Victor. Cole hates that Claire had to grow up believing that she was unwanted. When Victoria and Cole have to leave, they ask Claire for a hug before they go.
