Y&R Recap September 29, 2023: Billy Confronts Tucker

The Young and the Restless Recap for Friday, September 29, 2023:

Today on The Young and the Restless, Billy is forced to defend himself, Audra reveals a secret, and Phyllis stands her ground with Jack.

Billy, Jack, and Diane are trying to figure out who accessed the financials at Jabot. Jack says that the financial team is working on it and that he’s frozen their accounts and contacted their vendors so everything is under control. Diane has to leave for a meeting at the club, but asks him to text her as soon as he finds out anything. After she’s gone, Billy tells Jack to have the financial team stop looking because they know whose account it’s going to lead to, his. 

Billy says it’s the same thing that happened last time, trying to make Jack think that Billy was embezzling money from their family’s company. Billy thinks that Tucker is behind it and Phyllis is helping him. He reminds Jack that Phyllis is desperate and needs money. Jack wonders why they are targeting Billy. Billy thinks that Tucker wants to use his history to make Jack have doubts about him and divide the family. 

He warns Jack that it won’t stop there. They both agree that Tucker is coming after Jabot. Billy asks how his meeting with Adam went, and Jack realizes that he got distracted from that with everything that was going on with Maime and the financials. Jack checks his email and one from Adam. Billy asks if there’s anything good and Jack tells him it’s the mother lode. 

Jack tells him about the information that Adam has about Tucker and Audra covering up for a singer who sexually assaulted underage girls. Billy can’t believe that even Tucker would sink that low and asks if the information is solid. Jack tells him that Adam has solid proof and Billy wants to know what Adam wanted for it. Jack says that Adam just gave it to him for free and Billy can’t believe it. 

Jack thinks it’s part of Adam’s attempts to convince Victor that he’s changed but admits that Adam did ask he return the favor someday. Billy tells Jack that he would like to be the one to confront Tucker and Jack tells him that he can. He also asks Billy to make sure that the money is returned to Jabot’s account and Billy questions if Jack truly believes that he had nothing to do with it. Jack assures him that he never doubted it for a moment and agrees with him that Phyllis was working with Tucker.

He tells Billy that Phyllis being part of it is the thing that bothers him the most because she had other options, Billy tells him that he’ll let Jack deal with Phyllis and says that Tucker is the type of person to exploit somebody like Phyllis and make them feel like he’s their only way out. Jack says that’s why they have to stop him now.

Danny asks Phyllis if she’s OK and she tells him that she’s just had a bad day. He tells her that it’s weird seeing her in the flesh since the last time he was in the Jazz Room he watched her die. Phyllis tells him that Jeremy Stark put her up to it and threatened her family. Danny tells her that Daniel has kept him up to speed so he knows what happened. Phyllis is happy about that and asks if Daniel knows that he’s in town and he tells her that Daniel is meeting him there. 

Phyllis tries to vent to him about being the town pariah and he asks if she thinks that she’s the victim now. She says that she doesn’t, but he tells her that it certainly sounds like she does. Phyllis makes an impassioned plea about how she’s trying to change and then he says it was a nice speech. She asks if he believes her and he asks why she cares what he thinks. Phyllis tells him that she cares what he thinks about her and he tells her to prove it. 

Daniel comes over to them and he and Danny greet each other warmly. Daniel asks what’s going on and Phyllis tells him that they were just reminiscing and talking about old times. Danny says that’s not what they were doing and he tells Daniel that they were talking about Phyllis’ claims that she’s changed and how it’s not enough to just say it,  she’s also going to have to prove it. Daniel asks if she’s made a decision about his job offer. She tells him that she’s still thinking about it.

Danny and Daniel talk about how it reminds them of when he was trying to get her to join Omegasphere when it first started. Phyllis says that was different because the job he offered her then was high-powered and worthy of her talents and this time she doesn’t even know what she would be doing. Daniel tells her that the paycheck would be just as legitimate and Danny says this could be her one, and only chance to prove that she’s actually changed. 

They all get a table in the GAC dining room, and Daniel tells Phyllis that he can’t trust her yet with a high-power job at his company. She tells him that she would never do anything intentionally to hurt his company and he believes her but tells her that he knows that she can’t resist a shortcut. He can’t afford for her to do anything like that and she tells him that she knows she has to prove that she’s changed, but says that it’s hard to do when she’s still dealing with the fallout of everything that she did. 

Daniel asks how that’s going and she lies to him and tells him that she found Jeremy Stark’s account that had her money in it, gotten it back, and paid the insurance company. Daniel is surprised at how quickly that happened and she lies more and tells him that Michael’s investigators found an offshore account that Jeremy had and the money was in there. Daniels is that she got out from under that debt. Phyllis tells Daniel that if Nick and Sharon don’t give her the job they had talked about she will take the job at Omegasphere. Danny isn’t convinced she is sincere but tells her that he will be proud of her if she is.

Jack interrupts and asks to talk to Phyllis alone so Danny and Daniel leave the table. After they are gone, Jack sits down and confronts her over helping Tucker by hacking into Jabot’s financials. She denies it but he doesn’t believe her and tells her that he wants to know why she did it. Phyllis just stares at him and doesn’t say a word. Jack asks how long it took her to side with Tucker and Phyllis tells him she doesn’t have to listen to anything he has to say. She tells him that he, and everyone else, can go straight to hell. Jack tells her that if she wants him to believe she is sincere about making amends then he wants her to hack into Tucker’s system and find out what he is planning.
