The latest rumor is that Braeden is battling the final stage of cancer. Wild. After catching wind of it, Braeden himself took to Facebook to set the record straight. “I have been cancer-free for the last 2 years, thank the doctors and my early diagnosis!” he wrote.
But the rumor mill didn’t stop there. Another post claimed he was retiring, with headlines like “Eric Braeden Says ‘Goodbye’ on Instagram – Announces His Official Exit From Young and Restless.” Braeden was having none of it. He responded in all caps: “SIMPLY NOT TRUE!!!”

Of course, these stories are classic clickbait, but it’s a relief to know he’s not leaving the show anytime soon. Fans seemed just as happy about the clarification.
One fan, Adelo, wrote, “In the words of Victor Newman, ‘Well, I’ll be damned!’ I’m glad you’re setting the truth out there.” Diane added, “You should have prefaced with ‘LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING!!!!’ I figured it wasn’t true. So glad to hear that’s the case!”
Other fans echoed the sentiment. Kay commented, “I ignore a lot of these posts. If it’s not from you, it ain’t true.”
Melissa wrote, “Not many stars escape this same rumor. Social media mania.”
And Linda pointed out, “Victor cannot leave that show! His character is so central to every plot and subplot that the show probably couldn’t survive such a loss. I have adored that character for six decades. Eric is what makes that show worth watching.”
