A new report from Soap Opera Network, published Friday, June 6th, confirms that veteran soap opera producer Edward J. Scott has officially retired from daytime television.
According to the report, Scott’s final credited episode aired on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, where he served as senior producer on The Young and the Restless—a show he returned to in November 2024.
Scott began his television journey in 1976, serving in the capacity of an associate producer on The Young and the Restless. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and became one of the most influential figures in daytime drama.
Edward J. Scott’s Career
Throughout his nearly five-decade career in daytime television, Edward J. Scott held a variety of influential production roles across three major soap operas. At The Young and the Restless, his tenure as Associate Producer spanned from 1976 to 1978, then he advanced to Producer from 1978 to 1986, Executive Producer from 1986 to 2001, and Supervising Producer from 2004-2007 and later returned as Senior Producer from November 4, 2024, until his final episode on June 4, 2025.
He also contributed to Days of Our Lives while the show was on NBC as Executive Consultant from July to August 2007 and Co-Executive Producer from August 2007 to September 2008.
Across the hall from Y&R, Scott worked on The Bold and the Beautiful, first as Producer 2011 and then as Supervising Producer for over a decade (2011–2024).

Edward J. Scott has also been married to Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) since 1985—they have three daughters.
