Y&R Recap January 22, 2024! Today on The Young and the Restless: Victor and Victoria disagree on Claire’s place in the family, Sharon points Nick in the right direction, and
Daniel plays with fire.
Nick and Sally run into each other at Crimson Lights, initiating a conversation about Sharon’s launch party. During their exchange, Sally expresses admiration for Sharon’s impactful work with Cassidy First, and also finds inspiration in the collaboration between Nick and Adam. Nick acknowledges that Adam is keeping Sally informed, indicating that their attendance at the launch party was more than just a casual outing; rather, it seems they are giving their relationship another shot.
Sally discloses that she and Adam have been reconnecting, hinting at a potential revival of their romance, although their exact status remains uncertain. Nick shares that if she is happy, then he is happy for her. Sally offers a heartfelt apology for any pain she may have caused him, and they mutually agree to remain friends as they share a comforting embrace.
As Sally leaves, Sharon approaches Nick and asks if he is feeling more pain than he is letting on. Nick confesses that he wants what is best for Sally, but he fears that Adam will hurt her again like he always has. He wants to give his brother the benefit of the doubt, but either way, he is just happy to see them finally getting along as brothers. Nick also admits that the idea of falling in love again sounds exhausting. Sharon agrees and says that she wants to focus on being a good mom and running her company. Nick then invites Sharon to have lunch with him.

Adam updates his father that the negotiations are going well. He and Nick partnered with the acquisition team to facilitate a transition to the Newman umbrella. Victor praises their work, and Adam acknowledges that he could not have done it without his brother. Victor notices a positive change in the atmosphere; his sons are finally collaborating instead of working against each other. Adam mentions that they have their father to thank for pushing them to work together. Victor promises that if the brothers continue to put aside their differences, they will achieve great things together.
Adam is aware that when Victoria returns to work, it will cause a shuffle of positions and someone might lose their job. Victor assures Adam that he is not using him or Nick as mere placeholders. However, he warns Adam that his position in the company is secure as long as he doesn’t give him a reason to change his mind. Adam agrees, saying that he doesn’t want to mess things up when everything is going well in his personal and professional life.
Suddenly, Adam receives a text from Sally, which puts him in a good mood. Victor notices this and expresses his disapproval of Sally, stating that he doesn’t think she’s good for any of his sons. He is especially unhappy that she hurt Nick so deeply. However, Victor acknowledges that Sally seems to care more about Adam than Nick and gives his son his blessings. He tells Adam that as long as he trusts her, he will try to do the same.

Adam meets Sally at Society. She is aware that Victor has been occupying his time, so she is relieved for him to have the opportunity to meet with her. Adam informs her that she will be even more pleased when he informs her that Victor has essentially given them his blessings. This surprises her, and Adam reveals that the old man is prepared to trust their relationship.
As Adam and Sally kiss, Nick and Sharon enter and observe them. Sharon suggests leaving, but Nick insists that it is fine as they approach Sally and Adam before taking a seat at a table. Adam continues to glance over at them and discusses the concept of destiny. Sally wonders if he is optimistic about Nick and Sharon reuniting in order to eliminate any competition, but Adam clarifies that the destiny he was alluding to is their own.

Victoria bumps into her mother at Society. Nikki invites her to join, but Victoria declines, saying she has a lot to do and only came to order some food to go. Nikki asks for just 15 minutes of her time, suspecting that Victoria is trying to avoid her. She asks how Victoria is doing, particularly in relation to her worries about Seth. Victoria reassures her that she has every confidence that Nikki will overcome her struggles. Nikki then asks about Claire, but Victoria doesn’t want to burden her.
Eventually, Victoria confides that her primary concern isn’t Claire, but rather Victor. She talks about her recent visit with Claire and how she held her daughter for the first time. Victoria notes that she’s having some issues with Victor because he summoned Cole to the Ranch, which she feels is an invasion of her privacy. Nikki asks what would happen if Victoria’s feelings toward Cole were to change, but Victoria insists that romance is the last thing on either of their minds.

Victoria arrives at the office and her father inquires about Claire’s well-being. She informs him that significant progress has been made but emphasizes that her purpose for being there is unrelated to her daughter. Victoria wants her father to leave Cole alone. In response, Victor expresses his concerns and asserts his right to do so. However, Victoria clarifies that she is not interested in engaging in a romantic relationship with Cole when they have more to be concerned about.
Although Victor points out that Victoria hardly knows Claire and wants to protect her from getting hurt again, Victoria pleads with him to allow them to handle the situation on their own and to trust her to make her own decisions. Furthermore, Victoria begs him to accept Claire into the Newman family once she has recuperated and is released. Despite reminding Victoria of Claire’s past actions, Victor agrees to accept her as part of the Newman family. Meanwhile, as Claire is asleep, she awakens to find Nikki standing over her.

Heather visits Daniel after he requests her presence. Lucy is not around, and Heather wonders what Daniel wants to talk about. He explains that the other night, she said she loves him, and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Heather offers to help him and admits that she’s falling back in love with him. She’s happy that their New Year’s kiss made an impression on him. Heather confesses that she would like to see where things go with him, but Daniel reminds her that he’s with Lily now.

Heather asks hypothetically if they could be together if he wasn’t with Lily. He admits they could, but Lily is in his life, and they care about each other. Heather asks if he loves Lily, and he says their relationship hasn’t reached that level yet. She then asks if a future with Lily is really what he wants, despite knowing that they could be together and have a whole family. Daniel admits he’s not sure. Heather clarifies that she’s not trying to steal him away from Lily, but she wants to fight for their family. She reminds him of their love story and suggests they could try again. Heather offers to leave if he wants her to, but he kisses her instead. After making love, Heather wants to make sure that what just happened was mutual, and Daniel assures her that she’s not alone in her feelings.
