Beyond the Gates is expanding Shanice Johnson’s (Ernestine Johnson) family tree! We’ve already met two of her brothers, Cedric and Lamont, as well as her aunt Monica. Now, Shanice has even more relatives heading to Fairmont Crest. This time, viewers will meet her cousin Temeka (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Temeka’s husband, Tony (Anthony Davis). And there’s a fun little detail about these guest stars: Brown and Davis are married in real life!

That’s right! Yvette Nicole Brown is joining Beyond the Gates as Temeka, Shanice’s cousin, while her real-life husband, Anthony Davis, plays Tony.
How fun is that?
It’s always nice when a soap introduces more relatives for an existing character. And with Shanice’s about to marry Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), it’s only natural that we will see more relatives.
Who Is Yvette Nicole Brown?
Yvette Nicole Brown is certainly no stranger to television.
The American actress, producer, writer, and host has built an impressive career across sitcoms, dramas, and daytime television.
Many viewers will recognize her as Shirley Bennett from the NBC comedy series Community. She also played Dani in CBS’s 2015 reboot of The Odd Couple and Dina Rose on ABC’s The Mayor.
Brown also had a recurring role as Helen Dubois on Drake & Josh and appeared in several other television shows, including That ’70s Show, The Office, Boston Legal, Chuck, Mom, and Big Shot.
Her work has also earned industry recognition. In 2021, Brown received a Primetime Emmy nomination for her appearance in A Black Lady Sketch Show.
But daytime fans have another reason to recognize her!
Before joining Beyond the Gates, Brown had already visited another familiar daytime destination.
She appeared on The Young and the Restless as Lois Thompson, a reporter in Genoa City, in 2016 and returned to the role in 2017.
She also made a guest appearance on ABC’s General Hospital, playing a nurse.

Brown won’t be making the trip to Fairmont Crest alone!
Her real-life husband, Anthony Davis, is also joining the CBS soap as Tony, Temeka’s husband.
Davis is an actor and ordained pastor who has appeared in productions including The Family Business and The Upshaws.
While he may not have the same lengthy list of television credits as his wife, daytime viewers will now get a chance to see the couple share the screen.
And that’s a pretty sweet bonus!

Brown and Davis are married in real life!
The couple tied the knot on December 14, 2024, at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. Their wedding was an intimate celebration attended by approximately 200 guests.
But their love story actually goes back much further.
The two first met as friends in their twenties while attending a church acting class. They eventually lost touch for more than 25 years before reconnecting in 2021 following the passing of Brown’s mother.
Their friendship eventually blossomed into romance, and the couple made things official in 2024.
