It’s hard to believe, but it has been a year since the soap world lost one of its best and brightest in Peggy McCay.

McCay was known for her tenure on Days of Our Lives, but she had a spectacular career that spanned nearly seven decades! She had memorable roles on Maverick, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Perry Mason, Hawaiian Eye, The Young Marrieds, Gunsmoke, and The Trials of Rosie O’Neill. The latter where she earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Peggy originated the role of Caroline, the iconic Days of Our Lives Brady family matriarch in 1983. A role that she would go on to play on-and-off for over three decades. McCay, who last appeared on the show in 2016, left fans feeling like they didn’t get to say goodbye to Mama Brady. Days was able to give fans a sweet and emotional tribute for her and Caroline in June of this year. McCay brought every ounce of talent and heart she had to her role. That is what makes her so special in the eyes of Days of Our Lives viewers, and its cast.
