Beyond the Gates has been off to a strong start since its February premiere. The show has proven that soaps are still alive and thriving, delivering masterclass episodes one after the other. Like with any daytime soap opera, the show is building its loyal fandom, and most of that comes down to the couples. Some you root for, some you roll your eyes at, and others? You just sigh and hope for the best.
Some couples are madly in love, seemingly unbreakable. However, this is soap land, where most — if not all — couples are not safe. That being said, there are a few Beyond the Gates couples that might not last this season. Here are three!
Couple #1: Ted and Nicole
Ted and Nicole once seemed unshakable. They met in Maui at the National Medical Association Conference, later marrying and raising two kids, Martin and Kat. Their love story became legendary in Fairmont Crest — until a long-buried secret surfaced.
Thanks to Ted’s decades-long buried secret of an affair with Leslie Thomas, it’s hard to think this couple will survive.
Nicole is struggling to forgive him. Can love survive betrayal this deep? Or is this the end of a once-beloved couple?
Bill and Hayley
Bill seems to be that man. That devoted husband — for now! Look what he did to Dani, leaving her for their daughter’s best friend. That tells you everything.
He’s got some skeletons that are piling up. Although Hayley seems to be sticking by his side no matter what, when secrets come to light, will she regret marrying him?
Bill and Hayley seem inseparable. However, The two are probably the most hated by the Duprees, the most prominent family in Fairmont Crest. What makes matters worse is that Bill had a part in burying Ted’s secret that is coming back to bite them. Ted, more so than Bill.

Vanessa and Doug
They should really be at the top of the list.
High school sweethearts Vanessa and Doug are living separate lives. With their twins off at college and Doug lost in a gambling addiction, Vanessa is seeking connection—with Diego. Plus, there is her growing connection with the mysterious Joey.
Hmm, Are these two safe to survive the first year of the show? Or could they surprise us all?
