Laura Wright is taking her recovery one step at a time after a painful knee injury changed the way she filmed her recent General Hospital scenes.
Laura Wright and Pickleball
If there’s one thing we know about Laura Wright, it’s that outside of playing Carly Spencer on General Hospital, she loves playing Pickleball. Unfortunately, during a recent game, she succumbed to a knee injury. As a result, scenes were adapted to accommodate her injury.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Wright explained that unexpected moment. “I was playing pickleball — well, singles, and not with Wes [Ramsey, ex-Peter, her real-life partner], and I went to run up, and I did some weird movement with a backhand. But I crossed my leg over, and my knee popped out of joint, and back in — it didn’t stay out, it just popped out and back in real quick. Nothing was swollen; it was kind of fine. I mean, not fine — it was sore.”
Taking to X, Laura Wright explained what happened with her injury. She wrote, “Here’s what happened – the end of February I was playing singles Pickleball with Wes. I injured my knee- got an MRI – slight tear in the meniscus and the ACL no surgery needed -doing some physical therapy. And in time I will be back !! I was just dinking at the court on Monday.”
GH Filming Had To Change After Her Injury
Wright had to stay away from the courts due to the side-to-side movement but when she returned to work, filming scenes in Carly’s kitchen, her knee popped out again — twice. As a result, she “was sitting on a stool talking to everyone in Carly’s kitchen” for a few episodes.
Still, Wright isn’t letting her injury keep her off the courts forever — she hasn’t given up on her favorite pastime. In fact, she notes that she had been wearing a brace and being super mindful. It just means she will have to make some adjustments to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself again.
