After the big news on July 29 that Al Calderon (aka Javi Hernandez from Days of Our Lives) boarded a spot as a series regular for season two of Brilliant Minds on NBC, many fans were wondering if he’d be exiting the Peacock soap opera or pulling double duty. Well, according to reports, the actor is set to exit the show and will make his final appearance in May 2026 due to the show’s well-advanced tape-to-air schedule.
Per the reports, a representative for Days of Our Lives shared, “We do not comment on the contract status of our actors, but fans should not worry, Javi is alive and well in Salem.” The role of Javi will be recast.
Calderon joined the Peacock soap in his debut in February of 2024 as Javi. He was revealed to be the cousin of Rafe and Gabi Hernandez.
As reported yesterday, Calderon joins Brilliant Minds as Nurse Scotty Silva for season two, an American medical drama television series created and written by Michael Grassi for NBC. The series is inspired by the Oliver Sacks books. Season two premieres on September 22, 2025.
