Alicia Leigh Willis after 20 years sat down with her former onscreen brother, Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) for a chat on his YouTube series, State of Mind.
In the episode, the former onscreen siblings got the chance to catch up. Willis who played Courtney Matthews on General Hospital from 2001 – 2006 open up with Benard about his decision to leave the show. “I remember the last year of the show, was really dark. I would go to my dressing room and I would just cry. It wasn’t just that. That was a big part of it and I felt we had such a good connection. I didn’t have anyone to turn to and I was really feeling…It almost felt like high school. There was a time when it felt like you didn’t know who your friends were and who had your back and who didn’t.” She added, “This is the first time I’ve actually said that out loud. People were like, why are you leaving the show. They are offering you another four years, you’re a working actor, what are you doing?”
